Field Engineering Piping

About the Role

Bechtel Corporation is seeking a Field Engineering Piping professional for a full-time position. This role focuses on construction engineering tasks and activities within the Mechanical and Piping discipline, ensuring adherence to relevant codes and standards. The position requires strong planning and organizational skills, the ability to conduct detailed inspections, and the capacity to produce accurate, clear, and concise documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate with engineering teams on constructability and design issues related to commodity installations and work sequencing.
• Establish and maintain a working relationship and communication lines with the Project Engineer regarding piping design and field engineering, including agreement on deliverables and configuration management.
• Specify piping criteria for the construction of temporary facilities as required.
• Provide field engineering support to superintendents and personnel to meet cost and time schedules, verify materials, equipment, and quality, and ensure design requirements are met.
• Develop work plans, coordinate material take-offs and requisitions, perform and document inspections, report progress, and resolve design and construction conflicts for mechanical commodity installation and testing.
• Ensure procedural compliance, material control, and thorough documentation of inspections for completed work.
• Direct or perform the preparation of quantity listings for field-purchased material and equipment, and initiate requisitions for field material purchases.
• Support the preparation of construction drawings and schedules, design of temporary construction facilities, and ensure the preparation of as-built drawings and other job plans.
• Support the planning and delivery of construction materials and equipment, ensuring proper warehousing and storage for environmental protection.
• Review specifications, purchase orders, subcontracts, inspection reports, delivery schedules, instruction manuals, and technical data to provide on-site assistance and advice.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess a minimum of 10 years of experience in a relevant field. The role requires the ability to perform physical field inspections and participate in project walk-downs, which may involve extensive walking on construction sites, climbing ladders and scaffolding, using fall protection and other PPE, walking on elevated platforms and uneven surfaces, and maneuvering in confined spaces.
