The Qurayyah Independent Power Plant (IPP)

The Qurayyah Independent Power Plant (IPP) is a significant gas-fired combined cycle power station located in Al Qurayyat, Eastern, Saudi Arabia. Developed by ACWA Power and the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC), this project has a capacity of 4,000 MW and aims to enhance energy reliability and sustainability within the Kingdom. The project, valued at SAR * billion, involves the development, financing, construction, ownership, and operation of the plant, aligning with Saudi Vision 2030 initiatives to diversify energy production and reduce carbon emissions.

Role Overview

Acwa is seeking a Deputy Plant General Manager for its facility in Al Qurayyat, Eastern. This full-time role involves providing overall direction to plant teams and leading all activities to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. The Deputy Plant General Manager will optimize resource utilization, ensure uninterrupted supply of power, and fulfill all contractual obligations to maximize revenue. The role reports directly to the Plant General Manager and requires over 10 years of experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop plant strategy in alignment with Acwa Operations' strategy.
• Report regularly on operational and maintenance activities, challenges, and mitigations.
• Prepare board presentations including financial figures, warranty issues, and operational matters.
• Manage and monitor the performance of direct and indirect reports, including workforce planning and recruitment.
• Oversee talent development initiatives, providing mentorship and coaching.
• Develop and manage the plant's operating budget, monitoring financial performance.
• Ensure understanding and achievement of financial metrics, costs, and contractual obligations.
• Lead the cascading of operational strategy into production plans and monitor performance.
• Provide overall direction to plant operations and maintenance teams, offering technical guidance.
• Plan and direct minor and major changes within the plant processes.
• Ensure continuous adherence to contractual obligations with the Project Company.
• Direct teams on operations and maintenance strategies, overseeing root cause analysis.
• Identify, establish, and monitor Integrated Management System (IMS) objectives and programs.
• Oversee and assist during IMS audits, implementing corrective actions.
• Provide guidance for effective SAP process implementation and adherence to guidelines.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, security, and environmental policies and controls.
• Develop and maintain effective business relationships with internal and external entities.
• Ensure comprehensive, accurate, and timely preparation of all plant reports.
• Develop and ensure implementation of Operation's department work instructions, policies, and procedures.
• Oversee the implementation of effective methods and techniques for continuous improvement.
• Manage commissioning requirements for new plants and address warranty defects.
• Build system structures and procedures to ensure company compliance.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in plant operations and management.

Internal and External Relationships

The Deputy Plant General Manager will work closely with all Corporate/Country teams, the Board, plant employees, and internal auditors. External relationships include relevant contractors and vendors, the Project Company, local authorities, external auditors, and shareholders.
