About the Opportunity

King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in Medina is seeking a dedicated Assistant Consultant, Orthopedics to join its medical team. This full-time position involves providing comprehensive medical care within the Orthopedics department and supervising junior medical staff, all in strict adherence to current medical staff bylaws, rules, regulations, and hospital policies.

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Assist Consultants in providing patient care and management in Orthopedic Surgery, maintaining KFSH&RC standards.
  • Perform patient assessments, examinations, and compile detailed case histories to assist in diagnosis and management.
  • Register thorough medical histories, conduct physical examinations, and formulate patient management plans for Consultant review.
  • Record Consultant orders, progress notes, and other necessary documents for outpatients.
  • Provide rotational on-call coverage for the specialty during evenings, nights, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Prepare for and actively participate in Consultant and specialist ward rounds, accurately documenting findings in medical records.
  • Follow up on investigation results for outpatients and modify treatment plans as clinically indicated.
  • Attend specialty and outpatient clinics as required.
  • Perform any other clinical responsibilities as assigned by the department.

Education and Supervision

  • Provide orientation, bedside training, and supervision to interns, residents, and fellows as assigned.
  • Participate in the educational activities and training programs offered by the Department.
  • Contribute to self-and others’ education, training, and development as applicable.

Professional Development and Research

  • Keep abreast of the latest techniques and developments in the field of Orthopedics, implementing them selectively to improve technical standards.
  • Participate in national and international medical conferences to enhance knowledge and skills.
  • Engage in clinical, basic, and translational research projects and publish papers in accordance with Research Advisory Council Policy.

Administrative Duties and Compliance

  • Undertake administrative duties assigned by the Section Head or Chairman of the Department.
  • Participate in all mandatory Departmental activities and serve on Departmental and Hospital committees as required.
  • Assist the Department in developing and implementing techniques and practices to maximize resource utilization across KFSH&RC.
  • Abide by current hospital and medical staff bylaws, all relevant rules, regulations, and policies, staying updated on any changes.
  • Follow all Hospital-related policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Refer to the approved Credentialing guidelines for Education.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of training in a specialty or subspecialty, plus post-training experience, is required.
