About the Role

Saudi Airlines Catering Company is seeking a dedicated Quality Controller to join our team in Umluj. This full-time role is essential for maintaining the highest standards of food safety and quality assurance within the unit and its associated outlets. The Quality Controller will play a crucial part in supervising and controlling production and operation activities, reporting directly to the Site Manager, and contributing to the continuous improvement of the Safety Management System (SMS).

Key Responsibilities

The Quality Controller is responsible for overseeing and ensuring adherence to all food safety and quality assurance protocols. This includes meticulous record-keeping, coordinating with various departments, and actively participating in training initiatives. The role requires a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues, ensuring operational excellence and compliance across the unit.

Food Safety & Quality Assurance Duties

• Monitor food Safety & Quality Assurance activities within the department.
• Meticulously maintain all food Safety & Quality Assurance records in the department.
• Coordinate with the Site Manager to address food Safety & Quality Assurance issues.
• Train and evaluate new Quality Control staff, submitting necessary reports to the Site Manager.
• Coordinate with different sections of the unit to resolve food Safety & Quality Assurance issues based on Daily Hygiene Reports.
• Monitor and maintain pest control activities undertaken by the pest control contractor for the unit.
• Ensure that laboratory related activities, such as drawing of samples (food, water, handprints, cleaning control), are regularly conducted by Quality Controllers on-duty.
• Investigate customer complaints with respective departments and provide comprehensive feedback along with corrective actions to the Section Head.
• Provide new hire training, refresher training, and on-job-training for all food handlers as per the training schedule.
• Liaise with the medical department for food handler’s certificates, staff post-vacation clearance, and staff infection control.
• Carry out follow-up hygiene inspections of supplier’s premises and outlets as and when assigned.
• Prepare the roster to monitor and maintain 24-hour coverage of food Safety & Quality Assurance activities in the unit.
• Coordinate with the Site Manager regarding the yearly department budget.
• Ensure optimum use of stationary, printing, office supplies, and lab chemicals.
• Complete any other related tasks assigned by the Site Manager.
• Act as Site Manager during their absence, during delegation periods.

Safety Management and Site Oversight

• Conduct safety inspections and prepare reports.
• Conduct safety related training needs assessments in the workplace.
• Maintain awareness of active and developing safety situations.
• Assist the accident investigation team for investigations.
• Conduct on-job training, Tool Box Talks (TBT), and safety brief awareness sessions.
• Inspect the site to ensure it is a hazard-free environment.
• Verify that all tools and equipment are adequate and safe for use.
• Promote safe practices at the job site.

Required Experience

Candidates for this full-time Quality Controller position should possess 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in food safety, quality assurance, or a related field, preferably within a catering or food production environment.
