About the Role

Grand Hyatt The Red Sea, located in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, is seeking a Sustainability Coordinator. This full-time position is part of the POMEC department and requires 2-5 years of experience. The role focuses on ensuring compliance with safety standards and managing maintenance interventions, while also driving sustainability initiatives within the hotel operations.

Role Overview and Responsibilities

The Sustainability Coordinator will be responsible for developing and implementing sustainability strategies aligned with corporate ESG objectives. This includes identifying opportunities to reduce environmental impact, such as energy consumption, water usage, waste generation, and carbon emissions. The role involves leading sustainability improvement projects, integrating sustainable engineering practices, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. Preparation of sustainability and ESG reports, support for carbon footprint measurement, and tracking of sustainability KPIs are key duties. The coordinator will also assist with green building certifications and conduct energy audits and resource efficiency assessments.

Operational and Maintenance Duties

In addition to sustainability tasks, the role encompasses operational and maintenance responsibilities within the POMEC department. This includes ensuring the completion of corrective and preventive maintenance, managing maintenance work according to schedules, and ensuring high-quality finishing work with attention to customer-related interventions. The coordinator will operate assigned machinery and equipment according to best practices, manage fuel and gas deliveries, and respond to customer service requests promptly. Adherence to safety protocols, including wearing necessary protective equipment and maintaining clean work areas, is essential. The role also requires performing emergency procedures related to fire, life, and safety, and ensuring timely execution of work orders.

Energy Management and Administration

The Sustainability Coordinator will implement measures for energy conservation during interventions and recommend renewable energy solutions and efficiency upgrades. Monitoring utility usage and developing performance benchmarks are also part of the energy management responsibilities. Administratively, the role requires completing necessary documentation and obtaining fire permits when using tools that could cause a fire, ensuring all means of protection are available.

Teamwork and Professional Conduct

Collaboration is a key aspect of this role. The Sustainability Coordinator will work closely with other engineers and departments in a supportive and flexible manner, prioritizing the overall success of the hotel and guest satisfaction. Respect for hierarchies and colleagues is expected. The role also involves attending training and meetings, adopting Grand Hyatt values, and complying with hotel policies and grooming standards. The individual may be required to perform multiple tasks as requested by line managers.

Qualifications and Experience

This position requires 2-5 years of relevant experience. A strong understanding of sustainability principles, environmental regulations, and engineering practices is necessary. Experience in hotel operations and maintenance is beneficial. The ability to work collaboratively and effectively within a team is essential.
