About the Role

Bupa Arabia is seeking a Consultant - Family Medicine & Diabetology to join their team in Jeddah. This full-time role focuses on delivering comprehensive medical care to adult and pediatric patients within telemedicine settings, with a primary emphasis on diabetology integrated into family medicine practice. The consultant will lead diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of diabetes and related metabolic disorders, alongside a broad spectrum of acute and chronic medical conditions.

Role Purpose and Scope

The primary purpose of this role is to provide evidence-based, patient-centered care through multidisciplinary collaboration. The consultant will emphasize prevention, early intervention, chronic disease optimization, and continuity of care, applying population health and value-based care principles to improve clinical outcomes, enhance patient experience, and optimize healthcare resource utilization in a virtual environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive telemedicine care, including virtual assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up for diabetes, metabolic disorders, and other acute and chronic conditions.
• Conduct thorough clinical evaluations, encompassing medical history, virtual physical assessment, medication review, diabetes risk assessment, and interpretation of laboratory and diagnostic findings.
• Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based management plans, covering glycemic optimization, medication management, lifestyle modification, preventive care, and specialist referrals.
• Manage patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes, prediabetes, obesity, and other metabolic conditions, focusing on preventing, identifying, and managing related complications and comorbidities.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, including endocrinologists, dietitians, diabetes educators, pharmacists, and primary care providers, to ensure coordinated patient care.
• Utilize digital health technologies, such as remote patient monitoring and telemedicine platforms, to deliver high-quality virtual care and maintain accurate clinical documentation.
• Promote preventive care, chronic disease management, population health, and value-based care initiatives to improve glycemic control and reduce diabetes-related complications.

Quality Assurance, Professional Development, and Patient Focus

• Communicate effectively with patients and families, providing clear explanations of diagnoses, treatment options, and follow-up care.
• Adhere to all relevant medical regulations, ethical guidelines, and quality assurance standards for telehealth practice.
• Maintain proficiency in the designated telehealth platform, including video conferencing, secure messaging, and EHR integration.
• Ensure patient safety across all clinical interactions, reporting any risks or issues to the quality department.
• Maintain accurate and complete patient records in accordance with relevant regulations.
• Continuously enhance professional knowledge and skills in family medicine and diabetology, including telehealth best practices, through conferences, workshops, and online courses.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, research activities, and clinical audits.

Collaboration and Mentorship

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient care and facilitate communication regarding patient status and needs.
• Share insights and recommendations to support patient-centered care approaches.
• Mentor junior staff and provide training on clinical protocols.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this role should possess 2-5 years of relevant experience in family medicine with a focus on diabetology. A strong understanding of telehealth regulations and best practices is essential for this position.
