About the Opportunity

WSP Middle East is seeking a dedicated HSE Advisor to join our team in Jeddah, Makkah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is integral to an ongoing Property & Building Supervision Project, focusing on upholding the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental management.

Role Overview

The HSE Advisor will be responsible for overseeing and managing all health, safety, and environmental arrangements for the project. This includes ensuring strict adherence to the WSP HSEQ Management System and all relevant legal and client requirements, with a primary focus on safeguarding personnel and the environment across project sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the project's health, safety, and environmental arrangements in line with the WSP HSEQ Management System to protect all personnel.
  • Oversee HSE Inspectors, ensuring effective monitoring of health and safety implementation at project sites, compliant with legal and client mandates.
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive health, safety, and environmental training programs for WSP employees, including induction and safe working practices.
  • Review and approve contractor’s health, safety, and environmental plans, risk assessments, and method statements against legal and client requirements before work commencement.
  • Conduct daily morning site visits across project locations to verify the implementation of health and safety measures prior to work activities.
  • Lead weekly joint HSE inspections with HSE Inspectors and contractor personnel, ensuring all identified corrective and preventive actions are effectively closed out.
  • Organise and facilitate HSE meetings involving clients, WSP project staff, and contractors.
  • Initiate and test emergency response plans, ensuring drills are conducted according to the project schedule and performance standards.
  • Ensure HSE Inspectors follow up on contractor’s incident investigation reports, confirming completion, identification, and closure of corrective actions to prevent recurrence, and provide essential technical guidance for accident prevention.
  • Perform regular site safety reviews to maintain ongoing compliance and safety standards.

Candidate Profile

  • Proven experience in a similar HSE leadership role, with a preference for backgrounds in the construction or engineering industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of HSE regulations and best practices, specifically within the Middle East region.

Required Skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities to address complex safety and environmental challenges effectively.

Work Environment

This full-time position is based in Jeddah, Makkah, KSA, and involves regular site presence on property and building supervision projects. The role requires proactive engagement with various project stakeholders to ensure a safe and compliant working environment.
