Lead Backend Engineer

About the Role

Salla is seeking a Lead Backend Engineer to join our team in Jeddah, Makkah Province. This is a full-time position for a hands-on engineering lead who will be responsible for setting technical direction, ensuring code quality, and building critical backend services. The role also involves guiding and developing a team of backend engineers.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on technical leadership for backend engineering, utilizing a modern Java / Spring Boot stack.
• Design and build payment-critical backend services and APIs.
• Oversee code quality, including defining standards, conducting code reviews, managing testing, and ensuring release readiness.
• Ensure the correctness, reliability, and security of services owned by the team.
• Mentor and support the professional growth of backend engineers.
• Collaborate closely with architecture and product teams.

Required Experience

Candidates should possess 8+ years of experience in backend engineering, with a proven track record in technical leadership and building robust, scalable systems.

Technical Environment

The role primarily involves working with a modern Java stack, specifically utilizing Java and Spring Boot for developing backend services and APIs. A strong understanding of these technologies is essential.

Team Leadership and Collaboration

This position requires strong leadership skills to guide and develop a team of backend engineers. The Lead Backend Engineer will also work in close coordination with architectural and product development teams to ensure alignment and successful project delivery.
