About the Role

Ma'aden is seeking a Superintendent, Mechanical to lead mechanical maintenance operations in Turaif. This full-time position is critical for ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations across MWSPC Maintenance. The role involves setting maintenance priorities, supervising crews, and driving disciplined execution of mechanical maintenance work in alignment with operational needs, engineering standards, departmental procedures, and EHSS requirements. Candidates should possess 5-10 years of relevant experience.

Core Responsibilities

The Superintendent, Mechanical will be responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of mechanical maintenance. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the execution of preventive, corrective, predictive, and emergency mechanical maintenance activities.
  • Prioritizing maintenance work assignments to optimize resource utilization and operational continuity.
  • Monitoring maintenance crew activities and tracking progress against approved timelines.
  • Coordinating with Maintenance and Production teams to align planned maintenance priorities with operational requirements.
  • Ensuring adherence to relevant engineering standards, maintenance procedures, and work requirements.
  • Contributing to the development of maintenance KPIs and delivering performance targets, including safety KPIs.

Reliability and Operational Excellence

This role is central to strengthening plant reliability and equipment availability through proactive problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives:

  • Conducting routine plant and project site inspections to monitor progress and equipment condition.
  • Investigating identified and potential mechanical issues and implementing approved cost-effective solutions.
  • Leading root cause analysis for repeated major failures to enhance reliability.
  • Driving chronic failure elimination studies and following through on assigned corrective actions.
  • Troubleshooting mechanical problems and recommending practical solutions to reduce operational disruption.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of mechanical maintenance reliability programs and procedures.

Resource and Asset Stewardship

The Superintendent will manage resources and ensure optimal asset condition and availability:

  • Planning and organizing human and equipment resources to achieve departmental objectives.
  • Contributing to the development of maintenance service agreements with customers and contractors.
  • Validating engineering and maintenance data, drawings, and documentation from project contractors and vendors.
  • Developing, reviewing, and approving technical proposals for outsourced maintenance services.
  • Maintaining company physical assets, including vehicles, machinery, and tools, in reliable operating condition.
  • Identifying critical spare parts and specialized tools required for the reliability-centered maintenance program.

Team Leadership and Development

A key aspect of this role involves leading and developing the maintenance team while upholding safety standards:

  • Leading maintenance teams by setting objectives, managing performance, and motivating employees.
  • Developing, guiding, motivating, and cross-training multicultural maintenance teams to build versatile technical capability.
  • Identifying training requirements for technicians and engineers and organizing on-the-job training programs.
  • Mentoring new and existing maintenance personnel on work controls, maintenance processes, and technical execution.
  • Building an engaged working environment that supports collaboration, ownership, and reliable maintenance delivery.
  • Promoting a Safety First culture and implementing operational EHSS Management System requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to operational excellence and possess the following qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in a heavy industrial or plant environment.
  • Proven leadership experience in supervising maintenance crews and managing projects.
  • Strong understanding of preventive, corrective, predictive, and emergency maintenance methodologies.
  • Proficiency in root cause analysis and problem-solving techniques for mechanical issues.
  • Knowledge of relevant engineering standards, maintenance procedures, and EHSS regulations.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and team development skills.
