The Role of Assistant Garment Technologist

The Assistant Garment Technologist supports the Garment Technology team in ensuring that Blooming Wear garments are technically accurate, consistently fitted, and ready for production from development through bulk manufacturing. This full-time role, based in Jeddah or Makkah, involves close collaboration with Senior Garment Technologists, Design, Buying, suppliers, and quality teams. The primary objective is to protect design intent while delivering garments that meet Blooming Wear's standards for fit, comfort, workmanship, durability, and overall quality. The position requires 0-3 years of experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Support Designers, Buyers, and Senior Garment Technologists in understanding design intent and customer requirements for each style.
• Provide basic technical guidance on construction methods, materials, and garment components to ensure styles are fit for purpose, manufacturable, and aligned with quality standards.
• Maintain approved block libraries, base patterns, and standard specification templates by category and size range.
• Apply approved blocks and specifications on repeat styles, escalating deviations to Senior Garment Technologists for review.
• Create and update tech packs, including measurements, construction details, grading information, and workmanship standards.
• Ensure all technical updates, comments, and approvals are accurately recorded in Airtable systems.
• Measure all samples against the tech pack prior to fit sessions and compare vendor-reported measurements against physical measurements.
• Determine during fit sessions whether issues are caused by "out of spec" manufacturing or specific design/pattern flaws.
• Lead and document fit sessions, analyzing construction issues and translating decisions into clear pattern corrections.
• Input all technical comments into Airtable/PLM for precise vendor communication.
• Validate that technical adjustments are implemented accurately across follow-up samples (PPS/TOP).
• Build relationships with suppliers to troubleshoot recurring measurement issues and improve execution quality.
• Manage technical critical path milestones and maintain weekly visibility of deadlines for sampling, fittings, approvals, PP, TOP, and testing.
• Identify risks, escalate early, and propose mitigation actions to protect on-time delivery.
• Ensure approvals and technical sign-offs are completed within required timelines and communicated to vendors and internal stakeholders.
• Ensure suppliers follow established standards for fabric, trim, and garment testing.
• Review test reports and quality findings, ensuring results are logged, communicated to suppliers, and corrective actions are tracked under supervision.

Required Experience and Skills

• 0-3 years of experience in garment technology or a related field.
• Understanding of garment construction, materials, and quality standards.
• Ability to create and maintain accurate tech packs and specifications.
• Proficiency in documenting fit sessions and translating feedback into actionable corrections.
• Organizational skills to track critical path milestones and manage deadlines.
• Communication skills for collaborating with internal teams and external suppliers.

Work Environment and Location

This is a full-time position based in either Jeddah or Makkah, Saudi Arabia. The role involves working within a collaborative team environment, engaging with various departments and external partners to ensure product quality and timely delivery.
