Role Overview: Facility Construction SGM

Abdul Latif Jameel is seeking a Facility Construction SGM to join its team in Jeddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves direct supervision of fit-out and renovation operational activities across Saudi Arabia, with general authority over daily functional operations. The primary purpose of this position is to manage the fit-out and renovation team across KSA, ensuring operational business requirements are met within agreed timelines, with a strong focus on sustainability, safety, and quality of work within approved budgets.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure all projects are delivered within agreed timelines with end-users.
• Prepare and implement an annual project schedule based on end-user priority needs.
• Produce an annual departmental budget.
• Ensure all projects and renovations strictly comply with ALJM Policies and procedures.
• Oversee the preparation of RFPs (Request for Proposal) based on end-user scope, in conjunction with the Commercial Department.
• Ensure the tendering process fully complies with ALJM Approved policy.
• Manage contracts during the design and construction stages to meet all end-user requirements.
• Coordinate all documents required for government authority approvals.
• Manage on-site supervision during the construction stage.
• Supervise project handover to end-users and stakeholders, ensuring all subsequent snags are completed within agreed timelines.
• Monitor the budget to ensure expenses are within approved allocation and signed off at each construction stage.
• Conduct progress meetings with consultants and contractors for effective project implementation.
• Coordinate with all project stakeholders to discuss potential issues and concerns.
• Review designs during the design stage to ensure end-user requirements are incorporated.
• Monitor the time schedule to ensure project completion within approved timelines.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in a relevant field.
• Advanced knowledge of construction principles and Saudi Building codes.
• Demonstrated ability to ensure all projects and renovations comply with KSA legislation and regulations.
• Proven experience in managing approved budgets and contractual obligations.

Decision-Making Authority and Strategic Impact

The Facility Construction SGM has the autonomy to recommend contractors and suppliers in line with ALJM Approved Policies. This role also includes the freedom to update, review, and develop project plans within agreed timelines with the Director of Sustainability, and the authority to recommend approval or decline of vendor proposals. The position holds a crucial strategic role in implementing projects and renovations, ensuring they remain within budget and agreed timelines. It also supports onsite project supervision to monitor quality and prioritize safety, and advises the business on cost-effective operational requirements, considering material sustainability, energy efficiency, and design.
