Business Development Specialist

About the Role

Saudi Aramco is seeking a Business Development Specialist to join the Downstream Origination Department. This full-time role involves implementing the company's downstream growth strategy by developing profitable investment opportunities, managing mergers & acquisitions (M&A), and forming joint venture partnerships. The focus areas include integrated refining and petrochemicals, marketing, retail, lubricants, and other downstream business segments.

Role Context and Department Overview

The Downstream Origination Department (DOD) is responsible for identifying, evaluating, screening, reviewing, and recommending global business development opportunities. These activities are conducted in alignment with the downstream strategy and in coordination with other administrative areas within the Downstream business. The specialist will be crucial in screening and originating potential investment opportunities and executing approved transactions.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the business development process from initial screening through deal closure, including driving screening and validation activities to advance proposals through stage gates.
• Prioritize business proposals based on investment criteria and the DOD portfolio strategy.
• Prepare for and conduct negotiations to ensure deals align with Saudi Aramco's offers, investor expectations, and established parameters.
• Assemble initial offerings for potential investors, lead investor selection activities, and coordinate with Saudi Aramco subject matter experts to draft Memorandums of Understanding/Letters of Intent.
• Ensure compliance with process stage gates and approvals, and approve contract payments and variations within specified limits.
• Lead efforts to formulate resource and funding plans to transform business proposals from concept to closed deals.
• Lead business planning and economic modeling, defining the scope and objectives of deals, offering messages, and "technical" solutions that constitute Saudi Aramco's business offering.
• Participate in creating the commercial, financial, and technical framework for deals, leading the evaluation of business opportunities including valuation techniques and methodologies.
• Define the scope of required due diligence, coordinate due diligence activities, present results of valuation and due diligence, and lead the development of commercial agreements.
• Provide administrative direction in the development and review of legal documents such as heads of terms, MoUs, cost-sharing agreements, and shareholder agreements, and manage the business portfolio.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 12 years of experience in industry expertise related to venturing activities such as commercialization, spin-offs, joint venturing, project development, financial valuations and modeling, facilities planning, or strategy development.
• Adequate understanding of financial analysis of companies and valuation methodologies.
• Knowledge of commercial principles of transactions and different types of transactions.
