Chief Engineer

About the Role

Luxury Collection is seeking a Chief Engineer to manage all engineering and maintenance operations. This full-time role focuses on maintaining the building, grounds, and physical plant, with an emphasis on safety, security, and asset protection. The Chief Engineer will oversee budgets, capital expenditure projects, preventative maintenance, and energy conservation, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise engineering operations, including equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, electrical, and life safety systems.
• Maintain and operate equipment for optimum effectiveness, efficiency, and safety.
• Establish and manage an effective rooms maintenance program.
• Ensure compliance with all Engineering departmental policies, standards, and procedures.
• Manage departmental controllable expenses to achieve or exceed budgeted goals.
• Select, order, or purchase new equipment, supplies, and furnishings.
• Inspect and evaluate the physical condition of facilities to determine required work.
• Recommend or arrange for additional services such as painting, repair work, renovations, and equipment replacement.
• Lead the emergency response team for all facility issues.
• Maintain accurate logs and records as required.
• Assist in effectively planning, scheduling, and evaluating preventative maintenance programs.

Customer Service and Profitability

• Handle guest problems and complaints effectively.
• Empower employees to provide excellent customer service and foster a positive atmosphere for guest relations.
• Help establish priorities for total property maintenance needs.
• Ensure ongoing communication across all areas of responsibility to maintain awareness of business objectives, expectations, and recognition of performance.

Human Resources Management

• Recognize team member contributions and foster collaborative relationships.
• Ensure fair and equitable treatment of employees.
• Provide feedback to employees based on service behavior observations.
• Supervise employee ability to execute departmental and property emergency procedures.
• Review employee satisfaction results to identify and address concerns.
• Solicit employee feedback and help ensure regulatory compliance to facility regulations and safety standards.
• Ensure disciplinary procedures and documentation adhere to Standard and Local Operating Procedures (SOPs and LSOPs).

Qualifications and Experience

• 2-5 years of experience in engineering or maintenance operations.
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, capital expenditure projects, and preventative maintenance programs.
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and safety standards.
• Experience in leading emergency response teams.
