The Role of Sr. Mechanical Inspector

SGS is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Inspector to join its team in Saudi Arabia. This full-time position involves conducting comprehensive mechanical inspections to ensure adherence to project specifications, industry codes, and standards. The role requires a professional with 5-10 years of experience in mechanical inspections, particularly within the oil and gas sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive inspections of pressure vessels, storage tanks, piping systems, and mechanical components to ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and standards.
• Perform welding inspections in accordance with CSWIP standards, including visual inspections, dimensional checks, and defect identification.
• Conduct in-service inspection, assessment, and certification of pressure vessels (API 510) and storage tanks (API 653).
• Review fabrication, erection, and maintenance procedures for compliance with engineering drawings and standards.
• Prepare detailed inspection reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and recommendations for corrective actions.
• Coordinate with project engineers, QA/QC teams, and contractors to ensure timely and effective resolution of inspection issues.
• Mentor and guide junior inspectors to enhance inspection quality and compliance awareness.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, codes, and best practices relevant to oil and gas mechanical inspections.

Experience and Qualifications

Candidates for this role should possess 5-10 years of relevant experience in mechanical inspections, with a strong background in the oil and gas industry. Proficiency in specific industry standards such as CSWIP , API 510, and API 653 is required for performing specialized inspections and certifications.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Saudi Arabia, operating within SGS's global network of facilities. The role involves collaboration with diverse teams, including project engineers, QA/QC personnel, and contractors, in a dynamic inspection environment.
