The DataOps Intern Role

This DataOps Intern position at Tabby is an engineering role with real responsibilities, not a course or shadowing program. It is designed for early-career engineers with 0-1 years of experience who are proficient in Linux and cloud environments, and who actively apply AI tools in their work.

Role Context

The Data Platform team manages the infrastructure that supports AI, ML, and data workloads at Tabby. This includes compute, orchestration, deployment, observability, and cost control across various cloud environments. The work bridges classic DevOps practices with machine learning operations, ensuring that the same clusters, pipelines, and monitoring systems maintain service availability, model training, serving, and measurement. Interns will join the team, work on production infrastructure under senior review, and are expected to meet engineering standards from the outset.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with cloud infrastructure, primarily GCP, and the bare-metal fleet hosting data, ML, and AI workloads.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for services and models.
• Run and troubleshoot containerized workloads on Kubernetes.
• Set up and improve monitoring, alerting, and logging systems, and act on the insights they provide.
• Automate repetitive operational tasks using Python or Bash.
• Support model training and inference workloads, including managing environments, resources, deployment, and cost.
• Investigate infrastructure and pipeline incidents to identify root causes.
• Contribute to improving the reliability and cost efficiency of the platform.
• Adhere to SAMA regulatory requirements, understanding that data residency and access controls are integral engineering problems within Saudi fintech.

Required Qualifications

• 0-1 years of experience in an engineering role.
• Comfortable working in Linux environments.
• Proficiency with cloud platforms.
• Demonstrated experience using AI tools in practical applications.
