About the Role

Waleed Yousef Alzayyad Certified Public Accountants (HLB WYZ) is seeking an External Audit - Senior Associate to join their team. This full-time role involves independently managing external audit engagements, reviewing team's work, and handling complex technical areas. The ideal candidate will have 4-5 years of relevant experience.

Role Overview

The Senior Associate will be responsible for the independent execution of audit fieldwork, ensuring compliance with methodology and sufficiency of evidence. This position requires direct engagement with complex technical areas and active management of client relationships during fieldwork. The role also includes a focus on developing junior staff and contributing to the finalization of audit files.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently manage the field execution of medium-complexity engagements or multiple smaller engagements concurrently, overseeing the fieldwork timeline.
• Review the majority of the team's working papers, ensuring compliance with methodology, sufficiency of evidence, and clarity of conclusions prior to Manager review.
• Handle complex or judgmental technical areas directly, including drafting technical memos and consulting the Manager on borderline issues.
• Manage day-to-day client relationships during fieldwork, including sensitive or difficult conversations with client staff.
• Take ownership of engagement economics at the field level, tracking actual hours against budget and flagging scope or fee issues early.
• Actively develop junior staff through structured feedback, on-the-job training, and performance input for appraisals.
• Assist the Manager/Supervisor in finalizing the audit file, clearing review notes, and preparing draft financial statements and audit reports.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 4 to 5 years of experience in external audit.
• Demonstrated ability to manage audit engagements independently.
• Proficiency in reviewing working papers and ensuring compliance with audit methodologies.
• Experience in handling complex technical accounting and auditing issues.
