About the Opportunity

ZRVS, a leading medical group in Saudi Arabia, is seeking a dedicated Hazmat Officer / Hazardous Materials Specialist to join its team in the Eastern region. This is a contract position designed for professionals with 2-5 years of relevant experience in hazardous materials management.

Role Purpose

The Hazmat Officer will be responsible for ensuring the safety, proper handling, secure storage, and effective emergency response related to hazardous materials within the medical group's operations. This role is critical for maintaining compliance with safety procedures and applicable health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements, particularly within a healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and monitor the safe handling, storage, transportation, and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Ensure strict compliance with company safety procedures and all applicable HSE requirements.
  • Identify hazardous materials and conduct thorough assessments of associated risks.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, safety records, and comprehensive hazardous material inventories.
  • Support emergency response procedures during chemical and hazardous material incidents.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Ensure the appropriate use and continuous availability of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and emergency response equipment.
  • Coordinate effectively with relevant teams during hazardous material incidents and emergency situations.
  • Conduct safety awareness and handling procedure training for employees as required.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and promptly report any safety violations or incidents.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A relevant Diploma, Degree, or professional qualification in Hazmat Management, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Safety, Emergency Response, or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience as a Hazmat Officer or Hazardous Materials Specialist.
  • Prior experience within the GCC region is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of hazardous material handling protocols and safety procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively and safely within a healthcare or medical environment.

Essential Skills and Attributes

  • Good communication and reporting skills.
  • Proven emergency response capabilities.
  • Candidates with prior GCC experience and relevant Hazmat/HSE certifications will be preferred.
