About Moritz

Moritz is an AI-native global law firm focused on building the next generation of commercial legal infrastructure. The firm combines proprietary AI tooling with a curated network of senior commercial lawyers to deliver vetted contract work efficiently. Moritz serves clients globally across Europe, the US, and Australia, with active expansion into new markets, including public procurement. The company has raised a $9M seed round from Y Combinator, 20VC, and over 20 unicorn founders.

The Opportunity: Litigation Lawyer

Moritz is seeking a Litigation Lawyer to join its network of co-counsel in Saudi Arabia. This contract role requires 5+ years of experience and involves serving as co-counsel for dispute resolution work, leveraging modern tooling to enhance case preparation and strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as co-counsel for Moritz's dispute resolution work in Saudi Arabia, covering commercial contract disputes, shareholder and post-M&A disputes, technology and IP disputes, debt recovery, and arbitration.
  • Lead case strategy, pleadings, evidence, and procedural steps for clients ranging from startups to midsize and enterprise companies.
  • Advise clients on litigation risk before disputes arise, including contract audits, escalation strategy, settlement positioning, and dispute resolution clauses.
  • Draft and negotiate letters before action, settlement agreements, and standstill and tolling arrangements.
  • Represent clients in mediation, arbitration, and court proceedings where licensed to do so.
  • Commit to meeting agreed-upon Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for accepted work.

Candidate Profile

  • Experience: 5+ years practicing commercial litigation or arbitration in private practice or in-house.
  • Dispute Expertise: Deep familiarity with contract disputes, including breach, termination, damages, limitation of liability, and injunctive relief.
  • Advocacy and Procedure: Confident managing proceedings end-to-end, with rights of audience or substantial arbitration experience (ICC, LCIA, or local institutions).
  • Drafting Skills: Strong drafting ability under pressure for pleadings, witness statements, and settlement terms.
  • Commercial Judgment: Ability to assess when to litigate, when to settle, and to articulate these strategies to clients.
  • Qualifications: Active license and in good standing with the bar or law society of Saudi Arabia. Professional indemnity insurance maintained or willing to obtain in line with local requirements.

Engagement Model and Collaboration

Moritz engages lawyers in its co-counsel network on an independent contractor basis. The volume of work depends on the scope of client engagements accepted, with decisions to accept, continue, or expand any engagement made jointly between the lawyer, Moritz, and the client. Moritz handles client intake, billing, conflicts checks, and matter management, allowing co-counsel to focus on legal work. Moritz matches co-counsel to client matters based on jurisdiction, subject-matter expertise, capacity, and fit. Lawyers retain professional judgment on legal work, while Moritz manages the client relationship, scoping, and commercial terms.

Technical Requirements

The Moritz platform is web-based, requiring a reliable internet connection and word processing software for access to matters and negotiations. Any device used to access the platform must meet Moritz's security requirements, which are shared during onboarding.
