Multi Property Director of Engineering

About the Role

St. Regis Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Multi Property Director of Engineering to oversee the maintenance and physical plant operations for multiple properties in the Red Sea region. This full-time role requires a high level of property maintenance knowledge, with a particular focus on safety, security, and asset protection across all units. The Director will be responsible for managing budgets, capital expenditure projects, preventative maintenance, and energy conservation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the physical plant, including equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, and electrical systems, in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
• Administer service contracts and ensure compliance with state, local, and federal regulations.
• Develop and manage engineering operating strategies and budgets for each unit, reviewing financial reports and addressing areas of concern.
• Oversee the execution of long-term preventative maintenance and 10-year asset protection plans.
• Lead the emergency response team for all facility issues and ensure fire crew understanding of procedures and equipment.
• Manage controllable expenses, including wages, utilities, tools, equipment, and vendor agreements.
• Supervise construction projects to ensure timely completion within budgetary guidelines.
• Maintain property life safety systems, licenses, permits, and certifications for all units.

Financial Management

• Monitor and manage payroll functions and controllable expenses to achieve or exceed budgeted goals.
• Participate in the development of capital expenditure goals and manage related projects.
• Prepare weekly and period-end P&L critiques for each unit.
• Educate staff on the impact of departmental operations on overall property financial goals.

Team Leadership and Human Resources

• Coach and support the engineering leadership team in managing expenses and achieving departmental goals.
• Ensure fair and equitable treatment of employees, with disciplinary procedures completed according to SOPs and LSOPs.
• Utilize employee feedback and an open-door policy to address concerns promptly.
• Facilitate regular communication within the engineering operation to convey daily activities, set expectations, and raise awareness of business objectives.
• Resolve guest problems and complaints, escalating issues to Human Resources as necessary.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in property maintenance or engineering leadership.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple buildings, grounds, and physical plants effectively.
• Proven experience in budget management, capital expenditure projects, and preventative maintenance programs.
• Strong understanding of energy conservation practices and regulatory requirements.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in the Red Sea region, requiring leadership across multiple properties. The role involves developing and implementing strategies to meet or exceed guest and employee expectations while maximizing financial performance.
