About the Role

St. Regis is seeking a Multi-Property Director of Engineering to provide high-level property maintenance knowledge across multiple buildings, grounds, and physical plants. This full-time role focuses on ensuring safety, security, and asset protection while managing budgets, capital expenditure projects, preventative maintenance, and energy conservation for the units. The Director will develop and implement strategies to meet or exceed guest and employee expectations while maximizing financial performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with property and regional engineering leadership to assess budget performance and address areas of concern.
  • Manage physical plant systems, including equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, and electrical systems, in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Administer service contracts to support property needs and ensure compliance with state, local, and federal regulations.
  • Ensure the fire crew's comprehensive understanding of all procedures, equipment, and alarms, and maintain property life safety systems.
  • Coach and support the engineering leadership team in effectively managing controllable expenses and developing engineering operating strategies aligned with business goals.
  • Develop and manage Engineering budgets, ensuring integration of departmental goals into game plans for each unit.
  • Oversee the execution of long-term preventative maintenance and 10-year asset protection plans for each unit.
  • Review financial reports, address potential concerns proactively, and supervise construction projects to ensure timely completion within budgetary guidelines.

Financial Management and Compliance

  • Ensure building and equipment licenses, permits, and certifications are current for each unit.
  • Manage areas of operation to budget by reviewing operating statements, budget worksheets, and payroll progress reports.
  • Monitor and manage the payroll function and departmental controllable expenses to achieve or exceed budgeted goals.
  • Participate in the development of departmental capital expenditure goals and manage projects as needed.
  • Prepare weekly and period-end P&L critiques for each unit and educate staff on the impact of operations on overall property financial goals.

Team Leadership and Guest Relations

  • Ensure property policies are administered fairly and consistently, and that employees are treated equitably.
  • Complete disciplinary procedures and documentation according to Standard and Local Operating Procedures (SOPs and LSOPs).
  • Utilize employee feedback and an "open door" policy to identify and address employee problems or concerns in a timely manner.
  • Recognize team members' contributions and resolve guest problems and complaints effectively.
  • Ensure regular, ongoing communication throughout the engineering operation to convey daily activities, set expectations, and raise awareness of business objectives.

Required Experience

Candidates should possess 5-10 years of relevant experience in property maintenance and engineering leadership, preferably within a multi-property environment.
