Role Overview: Senior Specialist - Transport and Distribution

As a Senior Specialist - Transport and Distribution, you will be responsible for overseeing the movement of goods, optimizing freight costs, and ensuring regulatory compliance. This full-time role involves providing logistical support to clients and requires advanced knowledge of various transportation modes, including air, ocean, and trucking. The objective is to ensure efficient and timely movement of goods while minimizing costs and maximizing service levels.

Key Responsibilities

Overseeing and coordinating the transportation of goods, including scheduling, tracking shipments, and managing carrier relationships.
Negotiating contracts and rates with carriers to secure competitive pricing and ensure reliable service.
Analyzing transportation costs and identifying opportunities to reduce expenses while maintaining service quality.
Ensuring compliance with transportation regulations, customs requirements, and trade laws to facilitate smooth and lawful movement of goods.
Providing guidance and support to clients on transportation logistics, routing options, and regulatory considerations.
Developing and implementing strategic transportation plans to optimize service levels, minimize transit times, and reduce costs.
Tracking and analyzing transportation Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and drive operational efficiency.
Identifying and mitigating transportation-related risks, such as delays, disruptions, and compliance issues.
Leveraging transportation management systems and other technology solutions to streamline operations and enhance visibility.
Providing mentorship and leadership to transportation teams, fostering a collaborative and results-driven work environment.

Required Experience

Candidates for this role should possess 5-10 years of relevant experience in transportation and distribution management. This includes practical experience with various transportation modes and a proven track record in optimizing logistics operations.

Strategic Contributions
