About the Role

King Abdullah bin Abdelaziz University is seeking a Staff Nurse 1 - Women's Health to provide patient-driven care and support staff empowerment within a wellness environment. This full-time position requires adherence to organizational leadership standards, including integrity, leadership development, performance, professional and ethical behavior, communication, collaboration, and professional commitment. The Staff Nurse will utilize the nursing process, hospital policies and procedures, and their scope of practice to ensure compassionate, safe, and effective patient care, while also providing clinical oversight for junior staff within the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process, appropriate tools, evidence-based knowledge, empathy, and compassion in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care for individual patients, considering holistic needs and adhering to scope of practice and hospital policies.
• Demonstrate the knowledge and critical thinking skills necessary to implement nursing plans of care, interventions, and procedures, taking into account the patient’s condition, culture, and medical plan of care.
• Advocate for patients by guiding best practices and standards of care within the multidisciplinary team.
• Report any deterioration in a patient’s condition to the physician, escalating via the chain of command as necessary.
• Work towards reducing length of stay by initiating discharge planning upon admission.
• Ensure patient safety and minimize risk by maintaining a safe environment and conditions, following all policies and procedures, and reporting observed or perceived risks promptly.
• Suggest opportunities for improvement in patient care and the care environment.
• Apply transcultural awareness in all interactions with patients, families, and colleagues.
• Collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary team to achieve safe, effective, and efficient patient outcomes.
• Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with policy.
• Ensure appropriate delegation of duties when required and take appropriate action in emergencies.
• Document all care accurately, completely, and in a timely fashion.
• Demonstrate necessary computer skills for carrying out duties.

Patient and Staff Education

• Educate and inform patients and their families on the care and management of their condition, fostering a problem-solving approach to managing and reporting complications.
• Provide advice on health promotion and disease prevention.
• Participate in personal and peer education, training, and professional development as needed.
• Share appropriate, relevant, and up-to-date information and knowledge with colleagues.

Hospital-Wide Contributions

• Respect patients and their families, promoting a patient-centered care culture.
• Participate in and support quality improvement and patient safety activities, either individually or as part of multidisciplinary teams.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
