Job Purpose / Objective:
The CSSD Technician is responsible for executing routine and basic technical tasks in the Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD), upholding JCIA/CBAHI standards. This includes managing sterilization processes, documentation, and ensuring the safe distribution of sterile items while handling contaminated materials.

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities:
  • Receive and decontaminate used contaminated items from various areas.
  • Properly label and package sterilized items using appropriate techniques.
  • Load and unload sterilizers following protocols.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols using PPE.
  • Assemble and pack instrument sets with the correct materials.
  • Store sterilized items properly until required.
  • Perform daily testing of sterilizers including warm-up cycle, Bowie and Dick test, Spore test, and leak test.
  • Participate in training sessions for new staff and assist in evaluating their performance.
  • Transport sterile packages to units effectively and safely.
  • Assist the Supervisor in various tasks and act as Supervisor in their absence.

Requirements:
  • Education: Diploma or equivalent in Sterilization
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a similar role
  • Licensing: Valid Saudi Council License
