Job Purpose / Objective:
The CSSD Technician is responsible for executing routine and basic technical tasks in the Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD), upholding JCIA/CBAHI standards. This includes managing sterilization processes, documentation, and ensuring the safe distribution of sterile items while handling contaminated materials.
Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities:
- Receive and decontaminate used contaminated items from various areas.
- Properly label and package sterilized items using appropriate techniques.
- Load and unload sterilizers following protocols.
- Adhere to infection control protocols using PPE.
- Assemble and pack instrument sets with the correct materials.
- Store sterilized items properly until required.
- Perform daily testing of sterilizers including warm-up cycle, Bowie and Dick test, Spore test, and leak test.
- Participate in training sessions for new staff and assist in evaluating their performance.
- Transport sterile packages to units effectively and safely.
- Assist the Supervisor in various tasks and act as Supervisor in their absence.
Requirements:
- Education: Diploma or equivalent in Sterilization
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a similar role
- Licensing: Valid Saudi Council License
