About the Role

APEX Resources is seeking an experienced Electrical Field Engineer specializing in Rotating Machines for full-time employment in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, covering cities including Dammam, Al Khobar, Dhahran, Al Jubail, and others. This role requires a professional with 5-10 years of relevant field experience.

Role Overview and Responsibilities

The Electrical Field Engineer will be responsible for the onsite installation of electrical rotating machines, along with ongoing preventive maintenance, repair, and calibration. This role involves providing technical instruction and assistance to customer representatives regarding the installation, operation, calibration, repair, and maintenance of equipment at customer sites. The engineer will also perform on-site installation, commissioning, refurbishment, startup, maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrading of Medium Voltage synchronous and induction motors, generators, and excitation & AVR systems. Experience with Medium Voltage Variable Speed Drives systems is considered an advantage. Responding to emergency repair requests and providing technical leadership to skilled labor are also key aspects of this position.

Key Technical Duties

• Supervising the installation and commissioning of rotating machines and their control systems, with a strong focus on electrical aspects.
• Testing and validating rotating machine protection systems.
• Performing electrical machine tests using AD&DC HV kits.
• Inspecting and servicing electrical circuits of brushless excitation systems.
• Testing surge arrestors and capacitors.
• Inspecting and servicing static excitation injection systems for rotating machines.
• Testing diodes and capacitors on brushless excitation systems.
• Carrying out IR & PI tests.
• Testing temperature sensors in rotating machines.
• Performing HV surge testing of electrical machines.
• Inspecting stator windings and core.
• Testing and servicing mechanical jacking oil systems.
• Understanding and inspecting rotating machine lube oil systems.
• Assembling and handling vertical and horizontal bearings, and rotor-mounted fans and blades.
• Measuring mechanical components.
• Handling heavy weights and lifting equipment.
• Using dielectric chemicals for cleaning electrical machines.
• Testing CT's and VT's.

Reporting and Safety

The role requires the preparation of timely and accurate technical reports for customer records and future reference. This includes writing technical reports, ordering materials, securing quotations, preparing job status reports, customer reports, time sheets, and expense sheets. A strong safety mindset is essential to ensure that all executed work adheres to technical requirements and safety standards.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
• A minimum of 5-10 years of field experience in electrical motors and generators.
