Senior Mechanic

About the Role

ADES - Advanced Energy Systems is seeking a Senior Mechanic to join their team in Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves performing planned preventive maintenance, repairs, and servicing of mechanical equipment and systems essential to drilling operations. The Senior Mechanic will also supervise mechanical crews and tool utilization, prioritizing safety for personnel, the environment, and equipment to optimize drilling efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical problems, faults, and malfunctions in equipment and systems using diagnostic tools, manuals, and technical documentation.
• Implement effective solutions to restore functionality and minimize downtime, communicating issues to the technical maintenance support team.
• Maintain the reliability and integrity of rig mechanical equipment and systems, including drilling, mechanical, and safety systems.
• Oversee maintenance, repair, and servicing of engines, generators, pumps, compressors, cranes, and hydraulic systems to ensure optimal rig performance.
• Maintain and repair power plants, monitor power distribution, and ensure continuous power availability.
• Verify and inspect third-party equipment and installations, ensuring new installations are managed via MOC Synergi cases when appropriate.
• Conduct functional and commissioning tests and inspections to verify proper operation of newly installed equipment as per regulatory and company standards.
• Utilize the Maintenance System for tracking, monitoring, and managing equipment performance.
• Ensure proper and timely implementation of mechanical preventive maintenance plans with accurate documentation.
• Plan and coordinate with the OIM/RMS and other departments for equipment security and safety inspections prior to operations or major activities.
• Adhere to statutory and regulatory mechanical requirements, including classification society standards, and maintain records.
• Manage inventory of spare parts, consumables, and supplies, coordinating with procurement and logistics for timely delivery.
• Prepare the rig for towing, ensuring all mechanical equipment is secured by the mechanical crew prior to rig moves.
• Promote and maintain effective working relationships with other departments, third-party personnel, and Client Representatives.
• Maintain proper logs and records of all mechanical maintenance activities, equipment inspections, and repairs.
• Prepare accurate and timely reports, including daily equipment status, incident reports, and job safety analyses.
• Ensure compliance with permit-to-work and isolation systems.

Team Leadership and Development

• Provide clear instructions to the mechanical team regarding duties, responsibilities, and safety precautions.
• Mentor, develop, and train the team to ensure safe and effective operations.
• Identify opportunities for skill and career advancement, supporting professional growth.
• Ensure the team receives necessary training through on-the-job instruction and participation in safety drills.
• Support and actively participate in ADES’s Competency Assurance Program for the team.
• Evaluate team performance with constant and fair feedback, identifying areas for improvement and driving the ADVANCE process.

Qualifications and Experience

• 5-10 years of relevant experience in mechanical maintenance and repair, preferably within drilling operations.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to regularly climb stairs and ladders.
• Regularly bend, twist, and stand.
• Capacity to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions (noise, humidity, cold, heat).
• Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
• Willingness to work day or night shifts, with a minimum of 12 hours per shift.
