Role Summary

The Steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and operational standards within kitchen and storage areas, ensuring that all equipment, tools, and wares are properly cleaned, sanitized, and stored. This full-time position requires adherence to The Ritz-Carlton's "Gold Standards" and contributes to the overall excellence in guest care and comfort.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain cleaning equipment and tools, including dishwashing machines, hand wash stations, pot-scrubbing stations, and trash compactors.
• Wash and disinfect kitchen and storeroom areas, tables, tools, knives, and equipment.
• Receive deliveries, store perishables correctly, and rotate stock.
• Ensure clean wares are stored in appropriate areas.
• Utilize detergent, rinsing, and sanitizing chemicals in the 3-compartment sink for dish cleaning.
• Inspect, pull, and stack cleaned items, returning soiled items for re-scrubbing and re-washing.
• Rack and spray all racked items with hot water to loosen and remove food residue.
• Sort, soak, and wash/re-wash silverware.
• Break down dirty bus tubs.
• Empty and maintain trashcans and the dumpster area.
• Clean and mop all areas in assigned departments.
• Dispose of glass in proper containers and break down cardboard boxes and other recyclables for placement in the recycle bin.

• Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance.
• Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods.
• Ability to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.

Qualifications and Experience

• Education: No high school diploma or * equivalent is required.
• Related Work Experience: No prior related work experience is required.
• Supervisory Experience: No supervisory experience is required.
• License or Certification: None required.
