About the Role
Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare (JHAH) is seeking a Senior Staff Physician - Pediatrics to join our dedicated team in Al-Ahsa. This full-time position involves delivering high-standard, cost-effective care within the pediatric specialty to JHAH eligible medical recipients. The successful candidate will operate under the supervision of an Attending Physician, executing duties strictly within the approved Credentials & Privileges provided by the Hospital Credentials & Privileging Committee.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend and participate in service clinical and educational rounds, including morning reports and sign-out rounds as appropriate.
- Engage actively in multi-disciplinary team rounds and contribute to service/department Quality and Safety activities, such as reviews, audits, and presentations.
- Report patients' adverse events to the designated department/service office.
- Attend and contribute to service and department business meetings.
- Prepare and provide patient reports in accordance with hospital policy.
- Participate actively when assigned to a hospital committee.
- Adhere to all hospital and departmental policies and bylaws.
- Ensure legible and timely entries into patients' records, maintaining complete case records and upholding patient record confidentiality.
- Participate in medical records audits when required.
Patient Care Duties
The role encompasses comprehensive patient care responsibilities across various settings:
- In-patient Duties: Assess and admit patients from the Emergency Room, out-patient clinics, and transfers from other hospitals as directed. Conduct necessary investigations, admission work-ups, daily patient assessments, and execute management plans under supervision. Perform daily rounds on admitted patients and assigned consults, attend to re-evaluations, and provide weekend coverage as per service arrangements. Respond to emergency calls, participate in trauma care, Code Blue, or rapid response care according to established credentials. Answer in-patient consultations within required timeframes and conduct rounds on related service intensive care unit patients when on-call. Plan and prepare patients for discharge and provide in-house 24-hour call as per the monthly schedule.
- Out-patient Duties: Attend assigned out-patient medical/surgical and procedural clinics within approved ambulatory credentials. Refer patients to other services when appropriate. Evaluate patients in the emergency room and perform minor emergency surgical procedures as required.
- Operating Room/Outpatient Procedure Area Duties (if applicable): Assist in the operating room when assigned to a specific service/attending surgeon. Perform operative procedures and perioperative anesthetic management within approved privileges. Maintain punctuality and professionalism, keep patient caregivers/guardians informed of procedure outcomes, dictate timely operative reports, and ensure safe patient transfer out of the operating room by completing required documentation.
Principal Contacts
This position requires daily interaction with hospitalized patients and their families, nurses, other physicians, and medical staff. Close contact is maintained with physicians from Emergency Medical Service, Clinical Medicine Services, Surgical & Diagnostic Services, Radiology Services, and other respective services requesting care.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates for the Senior Staff Physician - Pediatrics role must meet the following requirements:
- Graduation from an approved medical school.
- Completion of one year of internship in a recognized training program.
- Hold a Board certification and have completed three (3) years of experience in their clinical specialty following internship.
- SCFHS registered as either a Senior Registrar or Consultant.
- Ability to participate in teaching and educational activities for junior staff, medical students, and interns.
- Commitment to continuous professional development, including staying up-to-date with required knowledge and skills, and maintaining adequate Continuous Medical Education (CME) credits as mandated by hospital and licensing authorities.
