Role Overview: Cost Controller

TRS Staffing Solutions is seeking an experienced Cost Controller to join a leading petrochemical project team in Al Jubail, Eastern Region. This is a contract position focused on delivering robust cost control, forecasting, budgeting, and performance reporting for major brownfield and turnaround projects.

About the Position

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that project expenditures remain aligned with approved budgets and overall project objectives. This role requires a seasoned professional with a strong background in petrochemical facilities, specifically involving shutdowns, turnarounds, revamps, and brownfield capital projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, monitor, and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and comprehensive cost reports.
  • Track actual costs, commitments, accruals, and cash flow against approved budgets.
  • Perform detailed cost variance analysis and identify potential cost overruns proactively.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly cost performance reports for project management and key stakeholders.
  • Support project managers with accurate cost forecasting and earned value analysis.
  • Monitor contractor expenditures and review invoices to ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Assist with change management processes, variation orders, and necessary budget revisions.
  • Coordinate effectively with Planning, Procurement, Contracts, Engineering, Construction, and Finance teams to ensure accurate cost performance tracking.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and provide actionable recommendations to improve project performance.
  • Support project close-out activities and prepare final cost reporting documentation.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess 5-10 years of relevant experience and demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrated experience supporting major Turnaround (TA), Shutdown, and Brownfield projects.
  • Strong understanding of EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) project environments and project control methodologies.
  • Proven experience in cost forecasting, budgeting, cost reporting, and variance analysis.
  • Experience reviewing contractor costs, managing change orders, and assessing overall project financial performance.

Work Environment

This role is based in Al Jubail, within the Eastern Region, supporting a leading petrochemical project. The position operates on a contract basis, integrating into a dynamic project team focused on large-scale industrial operations.
