About the Area Maintenance Manager Role

KBR, Inc. is seeking an experienced Area Maintenance Manager for the Mixed Feed Cracker (MFC) unit in Al Jubail, Eastern region. This full-time position requires a strong background in plant maintenance within the Oil & Gas or Petrochemical industry to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations.

Role Overview and Responsibilities

The Area Maintenance Manager will lead all maintenance activities for the MFC/Steam Cracker area, adhering to Company standards. This includes overseeing mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation maintenance, as well as rotating equipment. The role encompasses managing preventive, predictive, corrective, and shutdown maintenance, ensuring effective execution and reporting through the CMMS system. Collaboration with Planning & Scheduling and Reliability teams is essential for maintenance optimization, bad actor analysis, and reliability improvement initiatives. The manager will also lead maintenance planning and execution during turnarounds, major shutdowns, and emergency situations, while supervising day-to-day maintenance teams and contractors, ensuring strict compliance with all HSE requirements. Regular reporting and participation in review meetings are also key duties.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all maintenance activities for the Mixed Feed Cracker (MFC)/Steam Cracker area.
• Manage mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and rotating equipment maintenance.
• Ensure effective execution and reporting of maintenance activities via the CMMS.
• Support Planning & Scheduling and Reliability teams in optimization and improvement initiatives.
• Lead maintenance planning and execution during turnarounds and shutdowns.
• Manage maintenance teams and contractors, ensuring HSE compliance.
• Prepare weekly maintenance reports and attend review meetings.
• Develop team capabilities through coaching and training.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must meet specific experience criteria based on their educational background:

• Minimum 15 years of experience in Oil & Gas / Petrochemical maintenance with a Diploma.
• Minimum 20 years of experience in Oil & Gas / Petrochemical maintenance with a High School diploma.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in Oil & Gas / Petrochemical maintenance with a Bachelor Degree.
• Mandatory hands-on maintenance experience in Ethylene Cracker/MFC units is essential; candidates without this specific experience will not be considered.

Technical and Leadership Skills

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of various plant equipment, including gas turbines, compressors, pumps, furnaces, heat exchangers, boilers, columns, piping systems, and critical rotating equipment common in Cracker plants. Proven experience in managing plant turnarounds, shutdowns, maintenance contracts, and reliability improvement programs is required. Proficiency in CMMS, maintenance planning, RBI, RCA, and predictive maintenance techniques is also necessary. Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills are crucial for success in this role, along with the ability to deliver business results within a multicultural environment.
