وصف الوظيفة
About the Role
ENGIE Middle East is seeking an Electrical Engineer for a full-time position in Al Jubail. This role requires 5-10 years of experience and involves supervising a team of maintenance foremen, technicians, and support staff. The primary objective is to manage day-to-day electrical maintenance activities at a power and desalination plant. The Electrical Engineer will also support the management of major plant outages, including those under a gas turbine long-term service agreement, to ensure the plant consistently meets critical targets for safety, environmental compliance, availability, reliability, efficiency, and budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with IMS and maintain a safe working environment for all personnel and contractors, including obtaining Permits to Work and adhering to Method Statements, Work Instructions, and Procedures.
- Plan, execute, and oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance, as well as project execution and upgrades for electrical systems and equipment.
- Ensure maintenance tasks are completed as per Work Orders generated in CMMS, with all work documented accurately.
- Produce necessary reports on maintenance activities and review/analyze maintenance reports and test results to recommend improvements.
- Ensure maintenance of all electrical equipment is in accordance with OEM manuals and best practices, collaborating with the Section Head Electrical for correct scheduling.
- Support 24-hour plant operation by being available for call-out at short notice, performing troubleshooting, rectifying defects, and conducting Root Cause Analysis of failures.
- Discuss planned and unplanned jobs with the Section Head-Electrical, and assist in outage planning, execution, and budget preparation processes.
- Ensure adequate inventories of spares and consumables are maintained, place requisitions, and ensure necessary tools and equipment are available, certified, and in good working condition.
- Deliver technical advice to colleagues and contractors, apply engineering knowledge to review and update task lists, and implement initiatives to address CMMS inconsistencies.
- Coach electrical technicians on equipment, Safe Work Procedures, and Operational Techniques, and support the development of Saudi Nationals through technical training and mentorship.
Collaboration and Reporting Structure
The Electrical Engineer operates under the general guidance of the Section Head-Electrical for routine plant operations and team management. The role allows for planning and managing own areas of activity within established policy and procedural boundaries. Any extraordinary issues outside these guidelines will be referred to the Maintenance Manager or Section Head-Electrical for discussion and approval of recommended actions. Internal communications involve daily interactions with the Section Head-Electrical, Operations, and Maintenance teams, as well as regular discussions with the maintenance team regarding maintenance strategy, technical problems, and individual development needs. External interactions include communication with suppliers and service contractors.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering, preferably within a power and desalination plant environment.
- Possession of a valid driving license, or the ability to attain one before the end of the probation period.
Physical and Environmental Demands
This role requires strong physical and mental resilience, involving work in power plant conditions. Candidates must be medically fit to operate in environments with exposure to high voltage, heat, noise, and confined spaces. The position demands sufficient strength and stamina for extended periods of standing, walking, and climbing during inspections and supervision, as well as the ability to work at heights and in elevated areas. Good vision (with corrective lenses if needed) and hearing are essential for monitoring electrical systems and alarms. Strong hand-eye coordination and dexterity are necessary for handling electrical components. The ability to respond promptly and physically in emergency or fault conditions, including rapid movement, is crucial. Candidates must also tolerate rotating shifts, extended working hours, emergency callouts, and physically demanding schedules as per plant operational needs, and be free from medical conditions that could impair alertness, balance, or safe performance of duties.
