About the Process Safety Engineer Role

TRS Staffing Solutions is seeking a skilled Process Safety Engineer to join our client, a major petrochemical operation, on a contract basis. This role is based in Jubail, Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia, and involves ensuring robust process safety across various project phases within a large-scale industrial environment. The successful candidate will contribute to maintaining high standards of safety and compliance in a critical sector.

They operate extensive, integrated plants and are instrumental in supplying essential materials to key sectors such as manufacturing, construction, and consumer products worldwide. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and facilitate process safety studies, including HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, and LOPA, encompassing scope definition, node selection, documentation, and action closure.
• Ensure process safety principles are integrated across the PDP, FEED, and DEP phases, applying inherently safer design principles and safeguarding hierarchy.
• Review and validate relief, flare, overpressure, and hazardous area concepts in accordance with API 521 and other international standards.
• Develop and review the Process Safety Design Philosophy and verify the effectiveness of protection layers, including instrumented, procedural, and mechanical safeguards.
• Ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards and regulations, coordinating effectively with multidisciplinary teams and reviewing deliverables from licensors and vendors.

Required Experience

Candidates for this Process Safety Engineer position should possess 5 to 10 years of experience in process safety roles, ideally within the petrochemical or a related heavy industrial sector. This experience should include a strong background in leading and facilitating safety studies and ensuring compliance with international safety standards.

Work Type and Location

This is a contract position located in Jubail, Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia. The role requires on-site presence to effectively manage and implement process safety initiatives within the client's operational facilities.
