Internal Controls & Compliance Manager

About the Role

Virtucruit is partnering with a leading organization in the energy and industrial services sector to appoint an Internal Controls & Compliance Manager. This full-time, senior, and business-critical role is within the Legal & Compliance function, based in Al Khobar. The position requires an experienced compliance professional to take ownership of a maturing compliance function, playing a foundational role in shaping governance, ethics, and risk management practices at the enterprise level.

Role Purpose and Context

The Internal Controls & Compliance Manager will be responsible for establishing and operationalizing the company's compliance program and internal control environment. This includes ensuring adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and internal standards. The role requires a hands-on, delivery-focused professional with 5-10 years of experience in building compliance programs and leading investigations, operating with a high degree of autonomy. The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor to senior management while driving execution across the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement the company's compliance and internal controls framework.
• Lead the compliance risk assessment process, including the development and maintenance of the compliance risk register.
• Develop, review, and implement compliance policies and procedures, covering areas such as Code of Conduct, Conflict of Interest, Data Privacy, Related Party Transactions, Gifts, Donations, Sponsorships & Charitable Contributions, Third-Party and Agent Compliance, and Trade and Business Conduct Compliance.
• Ensure ongoing compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and recognized compliance standards.
• Oversee compliance controls across business operations, processes, and investments.
• Periodically assess the effectiveness of internal controls and recommend enhancements.
• Perform regular compliance reviews and assessments of company procedures and practices.
• Identify control gaps, emerging risks, and systemic issues, and drive remediation actions.
• Evaluate compliance systems and ensure appropriate tools and software are in place.
• Manage and oversee the company's helpline and whistleblowing program.
• Lead investigations into potential fraud, misconduct, abuse, or violations of company policies, in line with accepted investigation standards.
• Oversee compliance with the Code of Conduct and investigate any breaches.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of complaints, investigations, findings, and outcomes.
• Liaise with external legal counsel on complex or sensitive compliance matters as required.
• Advise senior management and business stakeholders on compliance and internal controls matters.
• Design and deliver compliance training and awareness programs across the organization.
• Promote a strong culture of ethics, integrity, and accountability.
• Coordinate with Human Resources to ensure consistent disciplinary actions in cases of compliance breaches.
• Lead and supervise the compliance team, ensuring clear priorities and effective execution.
• Work closely with department heads to align compliance requirements with operational realities.
• Support company-wide initiatives relating to ethics, conflict of interest, and business conduct.

Qualifications and Experience

• 7+ years of experience in compliance, internal controls, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience in building and implementing compliance programs.
• Proven ability to lead investigations into potential misconduct or policy violations.
• Strong understanding of applicable laws, regulations, and compliance standards.
• Ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy and drive execution.
