About Netzero and the Role

Netzero is a Saudi climate-tech company based in Al Khobar, Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia. The company develops technology to support large-scale tree planting and ecosystem restoration efforts. This full-time Software Engineer role is integral to building the software that powers these initiatives, from field operations to customer-facing products. We are seeking a proactive individual with 0-1 years of experience to contribute to our mission.

Candidate Profile

We prioritize candidates who demonstrate strong agency and initiative. The ideal individual is proactive in identifying and resolving issues, capable of rapid prototyping, and committed to sharing knowledge with the team. This role requires a professional who values impact over titles, moves quickly, thinks deeply, and takes ownership of problems regardless of formal assignment.

Key Responsibilities

• Own features from end-to-end, including scoping, design, building, shipping, and continuous improvement in production.
• Develop customer-facing products that clearly communicate and engage users with environmental impact data.
• Build and maintain backend services such as APIs, authentication systems, payment processing, notifications, background jobs, and internal workflows.
• Create mobile experiences optimized for use by field teams in challenging real-world conditions.
• Translate requests from non-technical stakeholders into defensible product and technical decisions.
• Address production issues by identifying and resolving their root causes, not merely their symptoms.
• Enhance tooling, testing frameworks, observability, and CI/CD pipelines to accelerate team delivery.

Required Skills and Experience

• 0-1 years of professional experience in software development.
• Demonstrated strong fundamentals in software engineering principles.
• A proven track record of shipping software projects.
• Ability to detail a significant project you have built, rebuilt, or rescued.
• Experience delivering improvements that were not explicitly requested.
• Comfort working with problems that are not yet fully defined.
• Possession of strong architectural opinions, supported by sound judgment and evidence.
• Proficiency in utilizing AI tools to enhance development speed and explore multiple approaches without compromising quality.

Work Setting

This is a hybrid role based in Al Khobar, Eastern Province. While some flexibility is offered, the position primarily requires working from the Khobar office and is not a fully remote opportunity.
