About Worley and the Specialist Mechanical Engineer Rotating Role

Worley is seeking a Specialist Mechanical Engineer Rotating (SME) to join its team in Al Khobar, Eastern Region. This full-time role involves providing comprehensive mechanical engineering services on large or mega projects for Worley and its customers. The Specialist Mechanical Engineer Rotating will offer technical support and supervision within the mechanical engineering team, focusing on rotating equipment. Candidates should possess a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.

Core Responsibilities

• Develop engineering design packages for new installations and upgrade projects.
• Review project proposals and detailed design packages for new facilities.
• Update and maintain engineering documentation and drawings.
• Analyze system performance and identify solutions for energy saving.
• Ensure quality, cost-effective, and timely solutions for upgrades.
• Make recommendations for technical and economic optimization of existing facilities.
• Lead feasibility and profitability studies for new facilities.
• Manage mechanical engineering services to meet Worley's, customer's, and statutory/regulatory specifications, on time and within budget.
• Participate in relevant meetings, prepare progress reports, and comply with required checking procedures.
• Ensure project scope clarity and compliance with project change management processes.
• Provide advice during procurement, construction, and commissioning activities, including overseeing requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and purchase order preparation.
• Act as the Mechanical Engineering Rotating Lead on specific projects.

Technical Expertise and Project Delivery

• Demonstrate high experience with gas compressors and their auxiliary systems.
• Possess advanced understanding of vibration and rotor dynamics.
• Exhibit adequate skills in condition monitoring, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
• Understand international standards and Saudi Aramco standards.
• Possess general understanding of rotating equipment.
• Experience with compressors and pipeline in-line compressor design.
• Apply excellent technical and practical engineering skills to deliver quality, accurate, and timely work.
• Possess excellent knowledge of fundamental mechanical engineering requirements and basic requirements of other engineering fields.
• Demonstrate excellent knowledge of applicable local and international standards, and statutory and regulatory specifications.
• Competent in using relevant software such as MS Office Suite and mechanical engineering specific software.
• Extensive technical and practical experience in mechanical engineering within the same or similar industry, including experience in multi-disciplinary projects and teams.

Leadership and Team Contribution

• Assist in the training, development, and mentoring of junior staff.
• Outline project requirements, actively promote workshare where appropriate, assign tasks, and supervise progress.
• Proactively resolve discrepancies between Worley's and customer's requirements.
• Stay updated with the latest developments and technical innovations in mechanical engineering.
• Assist and support junior personnel within the mechanical engineering team as required.
• Communicate effectively with the mechanical engineering team and project stakeholders, including the customer.
• Identify issues and problems, develop appropriate solutions, and seek assistance when required.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• A recognized and relevant engineering degree.
• Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status.
• Relevant postgraduate qualifications in engineering, management, project management, or supervisory qualifications, or equivalent.
• Vibration analyst certification is preferred.
