About H&P and the Role

H&P is seeking an Assistant Driller to join its team in Dammam, Eastern Region. This full-time position involves providing essential support to the Driller by efficiently undertaking assigned tasks. The role requires the ability to deputize for the Driller during drilling and tripping operations, manage the drilling crew, and ensure strict adherence to company instructions, as well as established quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and participate in maintaining order, cleanliness, and overall housekeeping at the rig site.
• Ensure the proper maintenance of drilling tools and equipment.
• Oversee and assist the drilling crew in preparing equipment for operations.
• Manage the ordering and supervision of rig equipment loading prior to a rig move, under the direction of the Tool Pusher and Driller.
• Supervise the correct storage of all drilling equipment.
• Be prepared to replace the Derrickman at any time as requested by the Driller.
• Inspect the derrick/mast and associated equipment, record inspection findings, report defects, and facilitate corrections after approval from the Tool Pusher.
• Ensure the good maintenance of all sheaves within the derrick/mast.
• Verify that the drill string is in good condition.
• Supervise handling operations on the rig floor, particularly when picking up or laying down drilling equipment.
• Act as a replacement for the Driller at the brake during pulling out, running into casing, or when drilling a non-productive zone.
• Apply client rules for kick control under the Driller's instructions.
• Perform any additional tasks requested by the Driller or Tool Pusher, provided they are within the scope of competence.

• Ability to train, coach, mentor, and facilitate learning among multinational crews.
• Strong leadership capabilities, with the capacity to influence culture and performance.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proficient interpersonal skills.
• Self-motivated and capable of working effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must possess 2-5 years of relevant experience in drilling operations. A strong foundation of practical knowledge and expertise in the field is essential for this role.
