The Role: CDZ Operations Specialist

DHL Global Forwarding is seeking a CDZ Operations Specialist to join its team in Dammam, Eastern Region. This full-time role involves executing customs and trade compliance plans to optimize service and cost performance in customs clearance activities. The specialist will contribute to ensuring timely and efficient customs clearance for air and surface traffic to and from foreign destinations.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute customs and trade compliance plans and processes to optimize service and cost performance.
• Contribute to planning and directing the flow of air and surface traffic to and from foreign destinations for customs clearance.
• Monitor shipped items, shipping validity dates, and debits and duties/tariffs at government institutions.
• Execute customs entries, categorize goods based on customer information, and undertake customs security filing.
• Close out post-clearance modifications, execute inbound and outbound documentation, archive customs documents, and record customs shipment information and physical status.
• Calculate duties, tariffs, price conversions, and weight and volume of merchandise exported/imported.
• Provide guidance on pricing and margin, and support bids, RFQs, and customer presentations.
• Resolve customer issues and incidents, including escalations and disputes.
• Stay updated with regulation changes and ensure adherence to compliance standards, legal requirements, and import/export control legislation.
• Pursue activities for issuing and controlling import licenses, and manage processes and controls for the export area.
• Collaborate with customs authorities and government bodies to ensure smooth operations and regulatory compliance.
• Participate in developing and implementing workflow models between central customs operations and transactional operations teams.
• Study and resolve day-to-day delivery issues, and implement practices and quality standards for customs operations.
• Research, identify, and obtain permits, licenses, and certificates required for customs clearance and general customs formalities.
• Advise customers on legal and customs topics, including trade compliance for shipments to sanctioned countries.

Qualifications and Experience

• 2-5 years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated ability to execute customs and trade compliance plans.
• Proficiency in monitoring shipping validity, duties, and tariffs.
• Experience with customs entries, goods categorization, and security filing.
• Strong understanding of import/export documentation and archiving.
• Ability to calculate duties, tariffs, price conversions, weight, and volume.
• Knowledge of current customs regulations and compliance standards.
