About the Role

Sycomp is seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Data Center Engineer to lead and execute data center infrastructure deployments and field implementations across customer sites. This role is based in Dammam, Eastern region, and is a project-driven, deployment-focused position. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong multi-vendor experience, take ownership of onsite delivery, and coordinate closely with customers, OEMs, and internal teams. This is a contractor role, with an initial term of 12 months, extendable based on project needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and execute end-to-end rack deployments, including rack mounting, bolt-down, structured cabling (fiber and copper), power integration, grounding, and equipment labeling.
• Perform onsite installation, configuration, and commissioning of servers, routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless equipment from various OEMs such as Cisco, Juniper, Arista, Fortinet, HPE, and Dell.
• Own site delivery and acceptance processes, working directly with customers, OEM engineers, and Sycomp project teams.
• Conduct fiber and copper termination, patching, OTDR testing, and performance validation to ensure network integrity and reliability.
• Validate LAN/WAN connectivity, redundancy, failover, and security configurations against approved designs.
• Provide advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis during installation and post-deployment support phases.
• Produce and maintain accurate as-built documentation, rack elevations, test results, and handover reports.
• Ensure all onsite work adheres to data center operational standards, safety procedures, and ESD best practices.
• Act as a technical lead on site, providing mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and field technicians.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess 2-5 years of hands-on experience in data center deployments and field engineering. Additionally, the role requires:

• Proven ability to work effectively in multi-vendor network and compute environments.
• Experience performing OTDR testing and interpreting fiber test results.
• Ability to read and execute engineering designs, rack elevations, and cabling schematics accurately.
• Strong customer-facing communication and onsite coordination skills.
• A self-driven, quality-focused approach, with comfort in owning end-to-end delivery.

Technical Expertise

Solid expertise is required in the following technical areas:

• Structured cabling systems (fiber & copper).
• Rack integration and power layout.
• Network hardware installation and validation.

Desirable Qualifications

• Prior experience in large-scale or multi-site data center deployments.
• Exposure to acceptance testing and commissioning sign-off procedures.
• Leadership or site-lead experience on customer projects.
