Drilling Engineer

About the Role

TAQA (Industrialization & Energy Services Company) is seeking a Drilling Engineer to join their team in Dammam, Eastern region. This full-time position involves comprehensive responsibilities related to the planning, design, and execution of drilling programs, ensuring safe and efficient operations for customers.

Role Context and Purpose

The Drilling Engineer plays a critical role in delivering high-quality drilling services. This position requires significant technical expertise and close collaboration with various multidisciplinary teams to ensure drilling processes are executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest service quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop well plans, including the selection of optimal drilling techniques, equipment, drill bits, and other necessary components for successful operations.
• Create wellbore trajectories, considering geological targets, drilling objectives, and regulatory requirements to reach desired reservoirs.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation measures for potential drilling challenges such as anti-collision, wellbore stability, lost circulation, and formation pressures.
• Collaborate with geologists and LWD specialists to monitor wellbore position and formation characteristics in real-time during drilling operations.
• Ensure all drilling plans and operations comply with environmental, safety, and regulatory standards set by relevant authorities.
• Analyze drilling performance data and provide recommendations for process improvement and efficiency gains.
• Identify opportunities to optimize drilling practices and implement new technologies or methodologies to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
• Prepare comprehensive technical reports, well plans, and post-drilling evaluations for internal teams, management, and regulatory bodies.
• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including drilling engineers, geologists, reservoir engineers, and production engineers, to integrate well planning with overall field development plans.
• Ensure adherence to HSE protocols and actively promote a safety-first culture throughout all drilling operations.
• Monitor drilling progress and ensure operations are executed according to the approved well plan.
• Stay updated with industry best practices, new technologies, and advancements in drilling techniques to improve the efficiency and safety of well planning and execution.
• Work with the Service Delivery Manager and coordinator to acquire necessary job information and perform pre-job analysis, proactively recommending optimal approaches.
• Observe and support junior well planning engineers and DHT specialists, guiding their development and career progression.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this role should possess 5 to 10 years of experience in drilling engineering. A strong technical background and proven ability to manage complex drilling projects are essential for success in this position.

Location and Employment Type

This is a full-time position based in Dammam, Eastern region. The role requires on-site presence to effectively manage and oversee drilling operations.
