About APGAR and the AI Technical Consultant Role

As an AI Technical Consultant in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, you will join a growing team where collaboration is central to delivering innovative solutions for clients. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to all phases of AI and Data & AI solutions delivery, from use case definition to production readiness.
• Design and define AI solution architectures, including data flows, AI services, integration, and security.
• Define the technical approach for AI solutions, encompassing ML, Generative AI, RAG, and predictive models.
• Establish operating rules, non-functional requirements, and scalability principles for AI solutions.
• Oversee continuous integration, deployment, and monitoring principles for AI solutions (MLOps supervision).
• Ensure the overall technical quality of AI solutions and collaborate with project teams on complex technical topics.
• Develop high-quality technical documentation, such as architecture documents, security notes, and operational guides.
• Assist clients with the setup, administration, and governance of AI solutions in cloud or on-premise environments, while defining methodologies and DevOps/MLOps processes.
• Participate in pre-sales activities, including effort estimation for tender calls, writing technical and architectural sections, and presenting AI solutions in client workshops.
• Contribute to R&D activities, design reusable AI architectures, frameworks, and accelerators, and capitalize on technical knowledge.
• Evaluate new AI platforms, tools, and cloud services to enhance APGAR's AI offerings.
• Engage in internal initiatives such as mentoring, offers structuring, community of practice, and recruitment support.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Master’s degree or equivalent.
• At least 5 – 8 years of experience in a consulting firm or IT services company.
• Demonstrated experience in designing, assessing, and guiding the implementation of AI or advanced data solutions in enterprise environments.
• Strong background in providing technical consultancy for AI solutions and guiding teams through complex technical challenges.
• Comfortable operating in client-facing and presales contexts.
• Ability to explain ML, Generative AI, and Agentic AI concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Proficiency in communicating AI limitations, risks, and trade-offs clearly.
• Proven capability in writing clear documentation and customer-facing summaries.
• Experience participating in customer calls, demos, and workshops.
• Skilled in cross-functional communication with product, engineering, and sales teams.

Technical Expertise

Candidates should possess a solid grasp of the following technical fields:

• Core AI & Machine Learning: Understanding of ML fundamentals (supervised/unsupervised learning, model training, evaluation), familiarity with common ML algorithms, basic understanding of feature engineering and data preprocessing, ability to interpret ML model outputs and performance metrics, awareness of model overfitting, bias, and generalization, and understanding of the model lifecycle.
• Data & Integration: Knowledge of data architectures (data lake, lakehouse, batch & streaming), data integration patterns, APIs, enterprise systems, data quality, metadata, and governance concepts.
• Cloud & Platforms: Exposure to Azure, AWS, or GCP ecosystems, managed AI services, vector databases, security, identity management, and access control.
• Architecture & Documentation: Experience in designing technical and solution architecture documents, defining operating models and deployment strategies, and reviewing/challenging technical designs.
• Methodology & Delivery: Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies, CI/CD and MLOps concepts (deployment, monitoring, retraining), and experience with tools such as Jira, Git-based workflows, and CI pipelines.
• AI-Readiness & Enablement: Ability to assess customer AI-readiness (data availability, quality, governance, risk), identify AI-appropriate use cases, support customers in preparing data and workflows for ML and GenAI adoption, educate on responsible AI and realistic expectations, and contribute to AI-readiness assessments, frameworks, or playbooks.

Recruitment Process

The selection process for this role typically involves the following stages:

1. Initial CV screening by a Recruitment Officer.
2. Interview with the AI Solution Architect and Recruitment Officer (approximately 60 minutes) to assess technical expertise and motivations.
3. Interview with the local VP Operations (face-to-face in the Riyadh office, approximately 60 minutes) to assess alignment with values and review professional background.
4. Interview with the CEO (approximately 45 minutes).
