About the Role
Bupa Arabia is seeking a Consultant - Hematology to provide specialized hematology care within the ICC physical clinic in Riyadh. This part-time, in-person role focuses on evaluating, diagnosing, and managing a broad range of blood and blood-forming organ disorders. The consultant will deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care during scheduled clinic sessions, ensuring continuity of care and appropriate diagnostic work-up.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive, in-person hematology care during scheduled part-time clinic sessions, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and follow-up for acute and chronic hematological conditions.
- Conduct comprehensive clinical evaluations, including history taking, physical examination, and review of relevant laboratory and peripheral blood findings.
- Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based management plans, including medication management, anticoagulation monitoring, and referrals for procedures, imaging, or specialist input.
- Manage common hematology conditions such as iron deficiency and other anemias, coagulation and bleeding disorders, thrombophilia, and venous thromboembolism.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver integrated, patient-centered care and ensure continuity with the full-time clinical team.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) to support seamless handover and continuity of care.
- Promote hematologic health through preventive counseling, timely referral, chronic disease management, and the application of population health and value-based care principles.
Quality Assurance and Compliance
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers, providing clear guidance on diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care.
- Ensure compliance with clinical, ethical, and regulatory standards, maintaining accurate and complete medical documentation.
- Maintain current knowledge of evidence-based hematology practice and in-clinic regulations through continuous professional development.
- Contribute to clinical governance by participating in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and regulatory compliance programs within part-time hours.
Professional Development and EHR Proficiency
- Continuously enhance clinical knowledge in hematology and best practices through participation in relevant conferences, workshops, and Continuing Medical Education (CME) activities.
- Integrate the latest clinical evidence into practice to improve the quality, safety, and effectiveness of patient care.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the clinic's EHR system for efficient, high-quality, and well-documented consultations.
- Participate in ongoing training and adopt system enhancements to optimize performance and user experience.
Patient Safety and Satisfaction
- Uphold the highest standards of patient safety by delivering evidence-based care and adhering to established clinical safety protocols.
- Identify, report, and escalate patient safety risks, incidents, and quality concerns in accordance with organizational policies.
- Counsel patients and caregivers on diagnoses, treatment plans, medication use, potential adverse effects, and follow-up care.
- Deliver compassionate, patient-centered consultations through effective communication, comprehensive clinical assessment, empathy, and shared decision-making.
Collaboration and Mentorship
The role requires effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care and optimize clinical outcomes, ensuring continuity between part-time in-clinic sessions and full-time coverage. The consultant will provide clinical expertise and recommendations to support evidence-based decision-making and integrated care planning, facilitating clear and timely communication among healthcare professionals. Additionally, the consultant will mentor and support junior physicians and healthcare professionals through clinical guidance and knowledge sharing during scheduled clinic time.
