BAE Systems Saudi Arabia operates as the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under Government-to-Government arrangements, providing essential equipment, support, and training to Saudi Arabia. This includes critical maintenance for Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and training for RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel. We are currently seeking a Maintenance Support Specialist to join our team in Riyadh for a full-time position.

Role Purpose and Operational Context

The Maintenance Support Specialist provides professional advice and assistance to the Typhoon Weapon System Support Manager (TyWSSM) on all Typhoon Maintenance Support topics. This role involves offering independent critiques on proposals and deliverables from suppliers, monitoring and reporting on service performance across multi-disciplinary logistics delivery streams daily, and proactively identifying root causes to issues. The specialist will work with logistic services to implement changes aimed at maximizing fleet-wide availability. The position operates under the overall line management and direction of the RSAF TyWSSM and the governance of the RSAF Directorate of Aircraft Maintenance (DoAM), requiring strict adherence to RSAF DoAM Plans and Procedures.

Key Accountabilities

• Monitor and report on Depth performance, asset availability, and calibration (METCAL).
• Monitor and report on Munitions and Role Equipment availability.
• Monitor and report on the serviceability of all RSAF Aircraft Ground Equipment and Role Equipment to support operational requirements and associated Readiness measures.
• Monitor and provide independent assessment to the TyWSSM on the PC’s In-Kingdom Industrial Participation (IKIP) Supplier activities, while serving as the interface between RSAF, PC, and IKIP suppliers.
• Provide advice and assistance to other RSAF Directorates and DoAM sections on broader engineering issues as required.
• Accompany RSAF officers to briefings and meetings as required.
• Perform other engineering and administrative tasks as directed by the TyWSSM or their deputy.
• Initiate and progress Weapon/Role Equipment related Defect Investigations and safety-related weapons investigations, liaising with the TSC as appropriate to review resultant reports and expedite consequential maintenance or modification actions.

• Monitor and review Depth modifications and obsolescence programmes, ensuring effective fleet management through-life while minimizing life-cycle costs.

Core Responsibilities

• Provide timely and effective advice, support, and assistance pertaining to all RSAF Typhoon aircraft to the Typhoon Weapon System Support Manager (TyWSSM) and Director of Aircraft Maintenance.
• Manage and control Safety & Quality Management and Assurance systems in conjunction with the TSC.
• Drive the continued implementation of Continuous Improvement initiatives.
• Manage RFL and associated amendment processes.
• Support the day-to-day management of the RSAF’s Engineering Authority and Design Organisation Change process.
• Perform data management and analysis in conjunction with the Typhoon Support Center (TSC).
• Support CESST availability and utilization monitoring, providing reports as required.
• Support Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE) Operational readiness.
• Act as deputy to the Typhoon Maintenance Lead as required.
• Coordinate and interface with the TSC, PC, and MODSAP on all matters of RFL supportability, serving as the interface with HQ RSAF Heads of Specialisation on related policy issues, resolving differences, and advising on harmonisation strategies.
• Manage the configured baseline of the “in-service” standard of the Typhoon Weapons System and associated support capabilities in accordance with the Regulatory Framework for Logistics (RFL).
• Monitor and report on the efforts of the Typhoon Weapon System Section to maintain the operational capability of the RSAF Typhoon fleet.
• Assist in the development and refinement of future support concepts and policies in conjunction with Typhoon Weapon System Section specialists.
• Prepare maintenance support input for requirements and programme management documentation, including statements of requests and work for future Typhoon support proposals, in consultation with relevant staff.
• Act as the Typhoon RTS point of contact within the DoAM, monitoring and distributing the RTS to all RSAF stakeholders.
• Act as office coordinator for the production of reports and briefs on research and development topics, new programmes, safety, and reliability subjects as required.
• Adhere to BAE Systems Saudi Arabia Security policies and procedures, ensuring company assets are adequately protected.
• Manage and use BAE Systems Saudi Arabia resources effectively to minimize costs and contribute to achieving agreed budgets.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must possess over 10 years of extensive proven aircraft engineering/maintenance and logistics experience, coupled with a strong background in military aviation operations support.

• Completion of a recognized course of training or an apprenticeship at a military or civilian school in Aeronautical Engineering or related technology.
• Proven experience in a management or senior supervisory position, responsible for leadership, management, and application of safety systems in an aircraft operational environment.
• Essential operational experience with Typhoon Aircraft Weapons and General Systems.
• Must be from a Typhoon user Air Force background with practical, hands-on experience at a senior management level.

Essential Experience & Knowledge:

• Current 1st or 2nd Line Typhoon experience at Senior Supervisor level or above within a Typhoon operational environment.
• Working knowledge of Safety & Quality Management Systems.
• Comprehensive appreciation of military airworthiness maintenance regulations.
• Detailed knowledge of military maintenance regulatory procedures.
• Compliance in Maintenance Error Investigation techniques.
• Understanding of the Continuous Improvement (CI) process.
• Knowledge and experience in Weapons/Munitions.

Desirable Experience:

• Current 1st Line Typhoon experience at Senior Supervisor level or above, or experience working with Military Fast Jet platforms in the Forward Operational Domain or 2nd Line employment within the Typhoon industry.
• Previous experience working with Industry within an aeronautical environment.
