About The Ritz-Carlton and the Role

The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, *** is seeking a dedicated Night Manager to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role serves as the property's Manager on Duty, overseeing all operations during the overnight shift. The Night Manager is instrumental in upholding The Ritz-Carlton's renowned "Gold Standards" and ensuring consistent excellence in hospitality and service.

Role Overview and Impact

The primary objective of the Night Manager is to deliver the highest levels of hospitality and service. This involves representing property management in resolving guest or property-related situations, personally assisting in issue resolution, and completing tasks to maintain the brand's luxury service standards. The role is crucial in fostering an environment where exceptional experiences are created and lifelong memories are curated for guests, empowering the team to be creative, thoughtful, and compassionate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and monitor all overnight staff, ensuring compliance with operational guidelines and maintaining adequate department supplies.
  • Ensure all employees adhere to proper uniform, grooming, and safety standards, and are working in a secure environment.
  • Manage all period-end inventories and monitor employee hours effectively.
  • Review financial statements, sales, and activity reports to measure productivity, achieve goals, and identify areas for cost reduction and program improvement.
  • Assist in the response and resolution of all guest issues, collaborating with the leadership team to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Support accounts receivable processes, ensuring invoices are kept below 60 days and monitoring timely processing of chargebacks and rebates.
  • Administer plans to minimize chargebacks and rebates, and ensure adherence to proper cash handling procedures, monitoring overages/shortages.
  • Promote participation in property safety programs and monitor employee attendance, recording absences and tardiness.
  • Foster teamwork and employee morale, ensuring constant communication between staff, supervisors, and management.
  • Ensure employees are trained on job-specific aspects, aware of problem-solving resources, and informed about new operational procedures, standards, or programs.
  • Confirm all employees possess complete knowledge of emergency procedures.
  • Provide orientation for new employees and ensure all necessary information is entered into the computer system.
  • Support supervisors in achieving their development goals and assist the operations manager in weekly payroll processing.
  • Solicit employee feedback through an "open door policy" and review satisfaction results to address concerns.
  • Ensure property policies are administered fairly and consistently, and disciplinary procedures are completed according to Standard and Local Operating Procedures (SOPs and LSOPs).
  • Conduct annual performance appraisals with direct reports in line with Standard Operating Procedures.

Candidate Qualifications

Candidates for the Night Manager position should possess the following qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Alternatively, a 2-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related major is acceptable.
  • A minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience in hotel operations or a similar management role is expected.

Work Environment and Type

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, requiring presence during overnight shifts to manage property operations effectively.
