Ophthalmologist Consultant I

About the Role

King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital (KKESH) in Riyadh is seeking an Ophthalmologist Consultant I to deliver safe and quality healthcare to eligible patients. This full-time role involves performing clinical and academic responsibilities in accordance with the hospital’s policies and procedures, aligning with approved international standards. The medical staff ranking for this position is guided by policy and procedure no. M06-006, "Medical Staff Rank System (Ophthalmologists)."

Key Responsibilities

• Provide quality clinical care efficiently and comply with standards of clinical practice.
• Adhere to national and international quality and safety standards.
• Supervise junior staff and their functions.
• Conduct oneself in an ethical and professional manner.
• Offer consultation services within the division and to other hospital departments as requested.
• Fulfill duties according to the on-call rota and share workload or replace duties during other consultants' vacations.
• Adhere to granted privileges as approved by Medical Administration.
• Stay informed of current hospital policies, procedures, and objectives.
• Attend regular meetings with division members and carry an appropriate clinical load.
• Maintain positive relationships with colleagues and team members.
• Participate in all educational activities of the division, including combined teaching rounds, journal clubs, grand rounds, conferences, seminars, and symposia related to the subspecialty.
• Train junior staff to acquire skills in specialized procedures.
• Supervise the training of ophthalmology residents and fellows, encouraging continuing medical education related to the subspecialty.
• Participate in research projects related to the subspecialty in collaboration with the Department of Research.
• Accept membership in hospital committees when required.
• Contribute to the development of the division’s objectives, planning, and resource allocation.
• Perform duties related to patient and family education.
• Execute all duties professionally, effectively, and confidentially.
• Perform all other related duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Current valid medical license as a consultant in ophthalmology or its equivalent, issued by the Saudi Council for Health Specialties (SCFHS), to practice the specialty.
• Current valid certification of Basic Life Support.

The Ophthalmologist Consultant I will operate within the King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital (KKESH) in Riyadh, working collaboratively with various divisions and departments to ensure comprehensive patient care and adherence to hospital standards.
