PHARMACIST I

About the Role

King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in Riyadh is seeking a Pharmacist I to join their team. This full-time position involves verifying medication orders, preparing and dispensing medications, and providing patient counseling. The role requires 2-5 years of relevant experience and operates within established pharmacy policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Review, evaluate, and process medication orders, ensuring appropriateness of therapy, dose, frequency, route, and dosage form. This includes checking for interactions, allergies, and relevant laboratory values.
• Advise and counsel patients on medications, covering indications, potential side effects, and drug interactions pertinent to the area of practice.
• Document interventions, recommendations, and clarifications within the electronic Health Information System.
• Maintain control and security of all medications, including controlled and narcotic substances, adhering to laws and regulations for dispensing and record-keeping.
• Provide comprehensive drug information to healthcare providers, including details on drug selection, dosage, interactions, monitoring, and side effects.
• Supervise, precept, check, and monitor medication-related activities and performance of junior pharmacists, residents, trainees, and students.
• Assist and guide healthcare providers with issues related to medication management and use systems.
• Participate in and assist with conducting performance and quality improvement projects.
• Adhere to all Hospital policies and procedures.
• Contribute to self and others' education, training, and development as applicable.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience in a relevant pharmacy setting is required.
• Demonstrated ability to verify medication orders accurately and efficiently.
• Proficiency in preparing, compounding, and dispensing medications.
• Experience in patient counseling regarding medication use and potential effects.

Required Skills

• Strong understanding of medication orders, therapy appropriateness, and drug interactions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient counseling and advising healthcare providers.
• Attention to detail in maintaining medication control, security, and record-keeping.
• Ability to provide accurate and comprehensive drug information.
• Supervisory and mentorship capabilities for junior staff and trainees.
