About the Role

alfanar is seeking an experienced SMO Manager to lead its Strategy Management Office in Riyadh. This full-time role is central to developing, implementing, and monitoring the organization's strategic plan, ensuring alignment between strategic objectives and operational execution. The SMO Manager will support performance management and enable informed decision-making across departments, ensuring business plans align with alfanar electric strategy.

Key Responsibilities

The SMO Manager will be accountable for the following key areas:

• Strategic Planning & Alignment: Coordinate with executive leadership to develop and periodically update the organization’s strategic plan. Lead strategic planning workshops and alignment sessions, ensuring departmental plans and initiatives are fully aligned with overarching corporate objectives.
• Performance Monitoring: Design and implement corporate performance management frameworks, including KPIs and the Balanced Scorecard. Monitor and analyze the execution of strategic objectives, providing insights through regular performance reporting, and leading performance review sessions to propose corrective actions.
• Governance & Reporting: Establish and maintain SMO governance frameworks, policies, and reporting standards. Prepare executive-level reports and dashboards to communicate strategic progress and performance, and manage documentation for all strategic planning materials.
• Project & Initiative Oversight: Contribute to the management of the strategic project portfolio, ensuring alignment with corporate priorities. Work closely with the PMO (if applicable) to monitor project timelines and deliverables, and assist in prioritizing initiatives based on strategic value, feasibility, and organizational impact.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as a strategic liaison between senior leadership and various business units. Support the internal communication and dissemination of strategic goals and initiatives, and promote engagement to drive strategy execution.
• Continuous Improvement: Continuously benchmark and assess best practices in strategy management to enhance organizational effectiveness. Promote a culture of strategic thinking, performance accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.

Leadership and Management Accountability

This role requires strong leadership and accountability in several key areas:

• HR Proficiency: Ability to recruit, recognize, and cultivate high performers, exposing them to create a robust second line of management. Recognize low performers and guide them to improve or manage their release. Treat subordinates equally without discrimination, assessing performance based on planned results. Ensure the availability of a delegation of authority matrix as per company policy.
• Responsibility: Take full responsibility for the operation as per the job description and required deliverables, considering general company guidelines. Anticipate problems and make necessary proactive steps to prevent them, and take necessary and proper timely decisions.
• Delivery: Deliver required results in a timely manner with the specified quality and cost.
• Impact: Make a tangible difference to the area of operation and exceed business expectations.

Operational Excellence and Development

The SMO Manager will also drive operational excellence and organizational development through:

• Business Planning and Performance: Transform corporate goals into business plans. Plan, follow-up, and execute annual or development plans. Monitor plan performance and initiate action to strengthen results and take corrective action accordingly. Provide periodic work progress reports and control budgets and expenses to achieve optimum cost efficiency.
• Organizational Development: Develop the organizational structure according to current requirements, taking into consideration future and development plans. Ensure the availability of job descriptions for all job roles and their deployment.
• Business Process Improvements: Develop and coordinate well-defined written systems, policies, and procedures, seeking automation opportunities as much as possible. Be conversant and able to navigate through IT solutions relevant to the job and business, promoting automated systems and their full utilization.

• Adaptation: Adapt to new and alternative techniques, technologies, management structures, and business models.

Required Experience

Candidates for this position should possess 5 to 10 years of relevant professional experience.
