Sales Engineer

About the Role

Zahid Tractor is seeking a Sales Engineer to drive equipment sales within an assigned territory in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves identifying customer needs, building relationships, and achieving sales targets while ensuring accurate forecasting and strong market insight. The position requires 2-5 years of experience in a relevant field.

Role Overview

The Sales Engineer is responsible for managing the sales cycle from initial customer contact to deal closure and aftersales support. This includes regular customer engagement, market intelligence gathering, and coordination with internal stakeholders to ensure smooth order execution and customer satisfaction. The role focuses on converting opportunities into profitable sales by understanding customer requirements and promoting the full value proposition of products and services.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct regular sales visits to existing and prospective customers, recording outcomes in the CRM/Call Report system.
• Achieve annual sales targets for new and used equipment while adhering to approved pricing, discount, margin, and trading guidelines.
• Identify customer requirements, applications, fleet gaps, replacement cycles, project timelines, financing needs, and decision-making structures to convert opportunities into profitable sales.
• Prepare, coordinate, and follow up on quotations, tenders, demonstrations, trade-ins, and commercial offers with Sales Administration and relevant internal stakeholders.
• Maintain a reliable six-month rolling forecast, updated monthly by customer, model, application, probability, expected delivery timing, and expected closure value.
• Collect and report market intelligence, including competitor pricing, product positioning, finance offers, stock availability, delivery lead times, service support, and customer feedback.
• Promote the full customer value proposition, including product performance, ownership cost, aftersales support, CVA/service agreements, parts support, technology solutions, financing options, and warranty terms.
• Coordinate with Product Support, Rental, Finance, Credit, Logistics, Sales Administration, and Product Management to resolve customer issues and support smooth order execution.
• Participate in sales campaigns, open days, customer demonstrations, site surveys, product launches, promotional events, and customer training activities as required.
• Ensure full compliance with company policies, delegation of authority, pricing approvals, credit requirements, ethical standards, safety requirements, and documentation controls.
• Follow up customer complaints and escalations related to sales commitments, delivery, machine readiness, warranty coordination, communication gaps, or commercial matters until closure.
• Continuously develop product knowledge, application knowledge, selling skills, negotiation skills, and understanding of Caterpillar and competitor equipment.

Experience and Skills

• 2-5 years of experience in sales, preferably within equipment or a related industry.
• Proven ability to identify customer needs and convert opportunities into profitable sales.
• Strong relationship-building skills and customer focus.
• Ability to manage sales processes from lead generation to aftersales support.
• Proficiency in maintaining sales forecasts and reporting market intelligence.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
• Commitment to continuous learning and development of product and application knowledge.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, requiring regular travel within the assigned territory for customer visits and participation in various sales and promotional activities.
