This project encompasses sports facilities, entertainment venues, arts districts, and all associated infrastructure, requiring high-calibre professionals to lead integrated teams throughout each phase.

The Role: Senior SME WWTP Manager

We are seeking a Senior SME WWTP Manager to join our team in Riyadh. This full-time role requires over 10 years of experience and involves acting as the Subject Matter Expert for all Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) assets across the programme. The manager will provide technical leadership throughout the design, construction, commissioning, and handover phases of these critical infrastructure components.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) assets, providing technical leadership from design through handover.
• Review and assure wastewater treatment process designs, including biological treatment, tertiary treatment, sludge handling, odour control, and TSE reuse systems.
• Lead technical reviews of consultant and contractor deliverables to ensure compliance with project requirements, regulations, and international best practices.
• Provide expert advice on treatment technologies such as MBR, MBBR, SBR, activated sludge, and advanced wastewater reuse solutions.
• Support utilities and infrastructure teams in managing technical risks, resolving complex engineering issues, and developing mitigation strategies.
• Oversee construction quality, testing, commissioning, and performance validation activities to ensure operational and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate with designers, contractors, operators, utility providers, and client stakeholders for seamless integration of WWTP assets within the wider development.
• Review technical submittals, method statements, RFIs, commissioning plans, and handover documentation.
• Support operational readiness activities, including O&M strategy development, operator training requirements, and asset handover to end-users.

Required Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Civil, Environmental, Chemical, or Water Engineering.
• Significant experience, exceeding 10 years, in delivering wastewater and water infrastructure projects.
• Proven expertise in the design, delivery, commissioning, and operation of large-scale WWTP facilities.
• Experience within PMC, Client, Delivery Partner, or Programme Management environments on major infrastructure programmes.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Strong technical knowledge of wastewater treatment, TSE reuse, sludge management, and utility integration.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across complex project teams.
• Ability to meet necessary visa criteria for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
• Relevant work experience on high-valued projects/programmes for a project management consultancy business, required for immigration and client approval.

This full-time position is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
