Senior Structural Engineer

About the Role

Jacobs (KSA) is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join its Construction Supervision team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role supports the delivery of Hyperscale Data Center and Mission-Critical Infrastructure projects across all SA Regions. The successful candidate will oversee structural engineering and construction supervision activities, ensuring works are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications, international standards, client requirements, and local authority regulations.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Structural Engineer will be responsible for comprehensive oversight across construction supervision, structural engineering, and data center specific structural systems. This includes:

• Supervising all structural construction activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, project standards, and applicable codes.
• Reviewing contractor shop drawings, method statements, inspection and test plans (ITPs), material submittals, and technical documentation.
• Monitoring contractor performance and productivity to ensure adherence to project schedules, quality standards, and contractual requirements.
• Conducting regular site inspections and facilitating timely resolution of construction and quality-related issues.
• Reviewing and evaluating technical queries, requests for information (RFIs), and contractor proposals.
• Identifying and mitigating structural risks and construction challenges impacting project delivery.
• Coordinating with multidisciplinary teams including Resident Engineers, Inspectors, MEP Engineers, Architects, and Project Management.
• Reviewing structural designs and calculations prepared by contractors, designers, and specialist consultants, ensuring compliance with project specifications, international design standards, local regulations, and client requirements.
• Assessing constructability and value-engineering proposals while maintaining structural integrity and operational performance.
• Reviewing temporary works designs, including formwork, shoring systems, excavation support systems, crane foundations, and temporary structural supports.
• Providing technical leadership and construction supervision for structural systems within hyperscale data centers and mission-critical facilities, ensuring compliance with approved designs, project specifications, applicable codes, and industry best practices.
• Overseeing the construction of reinforced concrete, structural steel, and composite structures supporting data halls, administration buildings, central utility plants, substations, generator buildings, and other critical infrastructure.
• Monitoring the execution of high-load floor systems, equipment support structures, vibration-sensitive installations, long-span structures, and structural elements designed for mission-critical operations.
• Supervising the construction and inspection of foundation systems, including piled foundations, raft foundations, equipment foundations, transformer plinths, generator foundations, and chiller supports.
• Ensuring proper coordination between structural, architectural, civil, MEP, ICT, and commissioning teams for seamless integration of critical infrastructure systems.
• Verifying that structural works meet the resilience, redundancy, reliability, and operational performance requirements for Tier III and Tier IV Data Center facilities.
• Supporting quality assurance and quality control activities through inspections, material reviews, testing verification, and resolution of non-conformances.
• Liaising with clients, contractors, design consultants, specialist vendors, and authorities.
• Attending technical meetings, progress reviews, coordination workshops, and project inspections.
• Providing technical advice and recommendations on structural matters affecting project delivery.
• Supporting client reporting requirements through the preparation of technical reports and progress updates.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this role should possess the following:

• A minimum of 12 years of experience in structural engineering.
• Extensive experience in the supervision of reinforced concrete and structural steel structures, particularly those associated with hyperscale data centers.
• Demonstrated experience with data halls, central utility plants, substations, generator buildings, cooling infrastructure, and associated support facilities.
• Strong understanding of international standards, client requirements, and local authority regulations related to structural works.
