About the Role

Amazon Saudi Arabia (ex-Souq) is seeking a Sr Regional, Pre-construction, GES to lead the pre-construction (engineering design) phases for significant Customer Fulfillment (FC), delivery station (AMZL), sort center (SC), and quick commerce projects and conversions across AMET countries. This full-time role, based in Riyadh, involves managing an annual investment portfolio exceeding USD 1 billion. The successful candidate will drive projects from site selection, site evaluation, budget estimation, concept design, schematic design, and detail design through to construction readiness, ensuring launches meet Plan of Record requirements for timeline, quality, and financial targets. This position also contributes to building a robust 3+ year pipeline to anticipate future capacity needs and offers significant impact on AMET's infrastructure growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead pre-construction activities, including site selection, site evaluation, budget estimation, concept design, schematic design, and detail design for complex projects.
• Partner with Design & Construction stakeholders and Real Estate teams to develop construction and site strategies that deliver optimal quality and business outcomes.
• Identify process improvements, analyze design conflicts, evaluate resources, and predict and mitigate risks throughout the pre-construction phase, balancing strategic initiative deployment with consistent project management leadership.
• Assess complex situations requiring leadership visibility and involvement, applying sound judgment to navigate decisions, weigh risks and opportunities, and determine appropriate escalation paths.
• Lead and drive cross-functional teams to deliver results and execute project deliverables independently, participating in and leading continuous improvement initiatives.
• Apply analytical skills to navigate local regulations and customer requirements, challenging current practices and developing innovative solutions that meet timelines and exceed expectations.
• Create and own written communications to business partners and stakeholders on pre-construction matters, building collaborative, influential relationships within GES and with critical stakeholders inside and outside Amazon.
• Troubleshoot issues independently and drive them to closure with minimal supervision, navigating internal and external barriers while managing multicultural teams and facilitating stakeholder alignment.

Daily Activities

Daily activities for this role include reviewing the pre-construction program with the team and key partner organizations. The role involves conducting site validations during the site selection process, performing due diligence assessments, and managing design development. Responsibilities also extend to leading risk analysis, negotiating contracts and costs, and maintaining stakeholder alignment. The Sr Regional, Pre-construction, GES will travel to sites during the evaluation process and provide construction oversight during critical project phases. Strong communication skills are essential for engaging effectively with both frontline teams and executive leadership, translating complex technical concepts into clear business recommendations and ensuring alignment across all organizational levels.

Required Qualifications

• Experience in one or more of the following areas: construction or engineering project management, real estate development, or architecture/design.
• 15+ years of experience in construction management, pre-construction management, or related disciplines with progressive leadership responsibility.
• 10+ years leading development and pre-construction activities for logistics facilities, warehouses, industrial facilities, and/or critical infrastructure projects.

Work Environment and Travel

This role is based in Riyadh and requires up to 50% travel across the AMET region to support site evaluations and construction oversight. The position involves working at the intersection of real estate, design, and construction, evaluating opportunities, influencing strategic decisions, and establishing the foundation for successful project execution.
