Role Overview: Mechanical Technician

alfanar is seeking a dedicated Mechanical Technician to join its team in Riyadh. This full-time role is crucial for supporting start-up, testing, and commissioning activities across various units and systems. The Mechanical Technician will be responsible for monitoring plant parameters, performing routine inspections and maintenance, and assisting with chemical management and system cleaning to ensure optimal operational integrity.

Key Responsibilities

• Support start-up, testing, and commissioning activities for DMF, UF, SWRO, BWRO, CEDI, GTMDO, and chemical injection units.
• Assist with pipeline flushing, hydrotesting, and pre-commissioning tasks.
• Monitor plant parameters and accurately record operational data in accordance with OEM guidelines.
• Perform routine inspections, troubleshooting, and maintenance on pumps and dosing systems.
• Aid in chemical preparation, dosing calibration, and system flushing procedures.
• Execute routine cleaning of strainers, cartridge filters, and dosing lines.
• Inspect pumps, vacuum pumps, blowers, valves, actuators, and instrumentation to ensure proper operation.
• Monitor chemical storage levels and facilitate the safe unloading and transfer of chemicals.
• Conduct backwashing, air scouring, and Clean-in-Place (CIP) activities for DMF, UF, and RO systems.
• Inspect and replace cartridge filters, verify SDI/turbidity levels, and maintain pretreatment integrity.
• Track critical process and water parameters to ensure optimal plant operation and prevent scaling or fouling.
• Calibrate online instruments for conductivity/resistivity, pH, ORP, DO, CO2, and flow/pressure.
• Perform routine grab sampling for conductivity, silica, DO, and Sodium, reconciling results with online analyzers.

• Communicate effectively with peers and supervisors, demonstrating openness to directions and feedback.
• Utilize tools and machinery efficiently, optimizing cost and time.
• Execute operational activities according to established delivery schedules and work instructions.
• Address and resolve operational issues, escalating complex problems as necessary.
• Implement and adhere to quality standards for products, processes, and related activities.
• Perform tasks in line with defined work routines and instructions.
• Comply with all relevant company policies, procedures, and processes.
• Adhere strictly to all safety procedures and regulations.

Qualifications and Experience

• Academic Qualification: Diploma Degree from a Mechanical Institute.
• Work Experience: 6 to 10 years of relevant experience.
